Something to discuss until next season begins for whoever is interested. It was hard to think of a succinct title for this thread, but you should understand once you start reading. Very hard considering we have to actually find out games played of everyone before we can rank and its too much hard work
your list looks good but i have no idea if youve missed anyone. ill trust that you havent though

it'd be interesting to do this for current afl players but widen the gaps
1-50
51-100
101-150
151-200
201-250
251-300
300+

We should all try and fill this in.

great thread idea though

Obviously I had a bit of time on my hands to make this list. I used this link from AFL Tables to sort through the groups of players:

Of course, the higher the total of games the easier it is to pick five players because fewer people have made it beyond 300 games than beyond 200 and 100. Also, some groups were hard to decide, for example, I left Stephen Kernahan and Dane Swan out of the 250s whereas there are most likely other people who would not make that choice.

Gary Buckenara is easily ahead of 3 of these blokes.

Sam Mitchell @ 329 has Ackermanis measure every day of the week.

Mitchell and Acker are both darn fine players, happy to call them elite without a doubt.

Both with reputations as pricks, but Acker with the addiction of verbal shite.

Ackers ability to push forward and punch through goals from both sides of his body, in my mind puts his nose in front.

Mitchell has 5 Hawk B&F awards, second only to Matthews…..He was also the central driving force behind our 4 Flags....His finals record is second to none at our club.

He also has 2x the Brownlow votes of the peroxide motor-mouth,

You take the pivotal gun over the flanker every day of the week…..Sam Mitchell was a Champion in the true sense of the word…..Acker, not so much.

I reckon it'd be more of a difficult enterprise & far more interesting by way of debate, trying to find the Top 5 from the 0-100 range, the 100-200 range & so on.

Here's mine

0-99 games: Coleman,
100-199: Hudson, Blight, Hart, Bunton, Baldock.
200-299: Ablett, Carey, Dunstall, Jesaulenko, Lockett.
300-399: Matthews, Dempsey, Quinlan, Nicholls, Coventry.
400-499: Tuck, Bartlett, Fletcher, Harvey, Burgoyne.
