Jack BOG. McVeigh second BOG. Kennedy and Richards in our top 7ish. Jetta and O'Keefe quiet.

1. Kennedy
2. Jack
3. Richards
--------------- Clear gap between 3rd/4th
4. Jetta
5. McVeigh
6. O'Keefe

McVeigh jumps O'Keefe now, so at least borderline. Both could be out of the 50, or both just in. Up to you. Those last three very close now and I wouldn't have any higher than 40. Jetta's season has nose dived. Still playing well in parts but not the match winning form he was showing early on.

Kennedy still just staying ahead of Jack imo. Could argue both top 10. Maybe Jack only climbs to 11th.

Round 19, up early:

FYI, caught the misspelling of Jarrad McVeigh too late.

Pretty close to the mark I think. Only have a few concerns:

Swan was almost BOG last night IMO, Jolly was probably our best but he wasn't far behind. Rated his game as better than Beams. Personally I don't think Selwood has had a better year than Swan.
I rate Pavlich's season higher than Mitchell, Swallow and Boyd.
Does Talia really belong in the unluckies?
I don't think Taylor should be above McPharlin. Taylor has been a bit up and down.
Heath Shaw close at all?

Still don't like bumping players down because of injury. Franklin has been better than a lot of players above him imo. I'd go something like the below. Roughly.

1. Watson
2. Ablett
3. Cotchin
4. Beams
5. Swan
6. Thompson
7. Pendlebury
8. Selwood
9. Kennedy
10. Mitchell
11. Jack
12. Deledio
13. Franklin
14. Dangerfield
15. Swallow
16. Hayes
17. Richards
18. Pavlich
19. The rest

Where would you have both players?

Pendlebury about where he is, Franklin i would have ahead of Sewell and Birchall at Hawthorn. So in the 20-25 range

If i had one criticism of your rankings, it would be that your top 16 are midfielders. I'm not sure that is correct

Okay, who would you have otherwise?
Pavlich is just out of that list and I'm pretty comfortable with where he is considering that he has been dominant in the last month but tempering this with his slow start to the season.
Franklin would be there, apart from injury.
Maric is just out of the top 16.
Who else should be thereabouts?

I would have Richards higher. Pavlich has possibly been the best player in the league in the last 2 months, i think he should be near the top 10

If Franklin has been the 39th best player in the league this year I'll give up.
System is flawed.
Pendlebury missed 4 games and is 9th Franklin 39th.

Whilst I take the point that Franklin is lower than he perhaps should be a couple things should be stated:
Using my system Pendlebury should have been penalised more than I actually penalised him for games missed. Comparing how I've dealt with other players being injured reveals that I've dealt with Franklin similarly. Many, like AG, are against dropping players for missing games (up to a point).
I think it is more accurate to drop them moderately but allow returning injured players more leniency to get back to where their ranking was.
Pendlebury is the exception. In hindsight he fell somewhere in the middle of being legitimately penalised like others who missed games and not being penalised at all (as AG would have).
The reason why he fell in the middle of these two categories is because, before injury, he was arguably the highest ranked player in the league. I had him in second position on the leaderboard (and many Pies fans felt he should have had no.1 spot) so I didn't drop him anywhere near what I'd been dropping others.
Now Franklin has been good this year but he wasn't as good pre-injury as Pendlebury was pre-injury.
Perhaps I should've dropped Pendlebury further. Wouldn't have mattered because his form justified a position 8th-10th ish.
Similarly Franklin will bounce back up the list rather quickly if he returns to dominate after his break.
So that is the equilibrium I am aiming for.

Again, despite Pav's brilliance recently there are other players who I rate above him because of consistent form through the whole season.
Having said that he certainly can jump into the top 10 with a couple more exceptional games.

Thanks for the reply, you have a tough gig no doubt.
Would you have him as the first tall forward in the AA team? Most would.
He gets harshly rated on his performances and if he only kicks 4 and has 20 touches most say he has been beaten.
Watson misses a clutch goal on the weekend and he had an amazing last qtr, imagine if that was Buddy.

Midfielders are normally always the best players, so that shouldn't be in an issue that they take the majority of the higher spots. Have to go back to around 2008ish when Franklin, Fev, Riewoldt, Brown etc. were all dominant and around the top 10. Cloke and Franklin were top 10 last year. So if forwards/defenders warrant being high, they'd be up there.

Richards has been the best defender, and I don't think that's a one eyed view, he has been sensational. However, I wouldn't have him ahead of Lake's dominant season a few years ago and I think I had him just outside the top 10 from memory, so mid/late teens for Richards seems fine.

Pav has been great the past two months, but wasn't setting the world on fire early on. Again, mid/late teens seems fine.

I am not a harsh judge of Franklin. Many were harsh judges of Watson until recently (some still are).
Franklin or Pavlich would be the first tall forwards picked I would imagine. Then space to the next KPF.

AG to my rescue. :D

Thanks. Will reconsider his position.
McPharlin and Sewell jumped him this week.
Do you think about 30 is right for Jones?

Yeah I think his season sits pretty comfortably with the midfielders you have in the 15-30 range. He has been ultra-consistent in what has been a terrible year for the Dees. Probably gets marked down a little bit due to how poor his team has been this year which is unfair as it hasn't been his fault.
