Wanted to have a crack at a phantom draft, just going to do the top 50 picks. I'll say why I think the team will pick them but, there are enough in depth profiles around of the players that I don't need to do them. Remember it is just an opinion so enjoy.
Updated 10/11/14

#1 St Kilda - Christian Petracca
Why - Could become unstoppable

#15 Gold Coast - Kyle Langford
Why - Could be a steal if he develops like they hope, something different to what they already have.

Yeah just a gut feeling on daniel but probably a long shot. I would say we go for a big at that pick.

#14 Adelaide - Sam Durdin
Why - SA boy and fits the bill of what they are looking for.

#35 Adelaide - Dean Gore
Why - SA boy and is the complete midfielder. Dangerfield and Sloane could be leaving next year so this guy is perfect.

#43 Adelaide - Declan Hamilton
Why - SA boy and gives them a creative option up forward.

Good effort Wooly, I was thinking that the Sloane / Dangerfield comment was just some harmless baiting ... but you know most of the AFC squad is from other states? It's a common mistake to just pick SA boys for the SA teams - same as it would be for any other state. Victorian teams don't just pick Victorians etc...

#14 Adelaide - Sam Durdin
Why - SA boy and fits the bill of what they are looking for.

#15 Gold Coast - Caleb Marchbank
Why - Perfect intercepting third tall beside Thompson and May.

#16 North Melbourne - Lachie Weller
Why - Wants to be drafted close to his brother in Victoria. Can't see us passing on him if he slides and fits perfectly with Boomer, Wellsy and Dal getting on in age.

#17 Essendon - Liam Duggan

#27 Western Bulldogs - Tyler Keitel
Why - Will compliment Boyd nicely.

#30 Collingwood - Brayden Maynard
Why - A different type to what they already have and once his endurance improves will be a ver strong midfielder.

Why - Just seems like the player Hawthorn will turn into a gun and will take over from Sam Mitchell.

Why - Would fit nicely on a wing with Gaff.

#35 Adelaide - Dean Gore
Why - SA boy and is the complete midfielder. Dangerfield and Sloane could be leaving next year so this guy is perfect.

#36 North Melbourne - Caleb Daniel
Why - I have a gut feeling that we are going to take him and seeing this will be our last pick in the draft I don't think we will risk waiting for the rookie draft. If it does happen he is perfect to take over from Boomer and who better to teach him then the man himself.

#47 Geelong - Harrison Wigg
Why - Will be guided into being a very damaging player and could be steal.

#48 Collingwood - Lukas Webb
Why - A likely type who is a do it all forward.

#49 Hawthorn - Peter Bampton
Why - Will be waiting in the wings at box hill and could do a Langford.

#50 Hawthorn - Aidan Anderson
Why - A personal favourite of mine and I believe could be a seriously good player and another Hawthorn steal and fills a need.
Interested as to why you think McCartin will slip out of the top ten, more so given virtually all other drafters have him in the top 3.

It would be the first time in 10 years North haven't taken a tall in the draft.
Yeah just a gut feeling, we will hopefully be looking at a key backmen

Walker and Sloane will sign by the time next season starts but I reckon Dangerfield could wait until the end of the year but who knows.
Yeah I know, I just thought that there were similar players around those picks just thought the "SA boys" would fit in better and it wouldn't be a bad draft if you got those boys

I think he might do a Grundy and obviously not slip as far because I can't see Richmond passing on him. The thing is if Melbourne take Lever I don't think the next teams really needing McCartin but I believe you could switch the positions of wright and McCartin in my draft

As is being discussed on the AFC board, we have only picked 3 SA boys as first up draft picks in the last 10 years :)

Understand the reasons for it though ...
Really!
History will most likely prove me wrong then haha
If Durdin is at your pick though I do think that you can't pass on him

What makes Dean Gore a better fit for Adelaide that Alex Neal-bullen or Peter Bampton?

They are pretty similar damaging inside mids with the same traits but I think gore has a bit more flair but I feel Adelaide will get at least one of them just depends who they prefer

Not sure why if we would prefer Goddard to Durdin. One of the problems with this kind of Phantom which is almost rationale free, and especially when you have 2 players with very similar assets taken one after the other. For me, Durdin would be preferred if they are both on offer. Projects better as someone who can play either end, probably starting in the backline. Having said that, either would be fine.
