1. JMac has already stated that the 2016 premiership was ahead of schedule so I'm sure they already had plans in place to continue building towards their predicted premiership window. The fact we won this year was the most magnificent bonus and might only alter slightly the plans they would have already had in situ.

2. In the new age of professional footballers with free agency shifting the power towards the players, we must begrudgingly accept that every club will at some stage lose players they want to keep for a variety of reasons (go home factor, opportunities, better money etc). We will always be happy when the player chooses to come to the Bullgods and be similarly aggrieved when our own chooses to leave. FWIW I hold no grudges when Callan Ward left. We had a chance to sign him and cannot begrudge him agreeing to leave for life changing $$$$. Now Griff, he can get stuffed.
We were pissed when Griff shafted the club but a few days later were over the moon when we signed Toyd, the big fish forward we have been craving sine C Grant retired. Swings and round-abouts.
Some of us are still stuck in the old VFL days when interstate players came to Victoria to play in the Big league.

Do I want to lose Hamling and Adams. Of course not, but we must then use the available list and salary cap space to make our own raid on interstate Victorians.

Awful outcome, but in the circumstances may be the best we can get. Maybe we hang onto Adams for a year in the knowledge we end up getting squat for him, because our premiership window is wide wide open and can't afford to go into 2017 with only Cordy, Roberts, our Collins and Morris IMO.
How well do you think Adams would play for us next year if he doesn't want be here?

Lol, Reiwoldt wouldn't be worth getting because we have committed to Cloke, unbelievable.

Lol did I say that????

I said as the club has committee to Cloke I doubt they would chase Riewoldt

But don't let the truth cloud your attempted intelligent response

I'm not the only one that knows the whisper

Someone else post it I'm not putting it out there to get smashed if it doesn't happen when the lemmings assemble

Despite Adams saying he'll stay next year, this has significantly weakened our bargaining position. Any thoughts of getting a top 10 pick for Adams disappear when there is likely to be only one bidder. Weagles are not going to give up a top 10 pick for Adams.

This is one disadvantage that Victorian clubs can face with players who want to come back home - there are 10 potential bidders. A kid wants to go home to any other stare and you have 2 potential bidders and sometimes not even that. This is why we will likely get unders for Hamling and Adams and why some Victorian clubs have been somewhat reluctant to draft kids from other states.
NSW and SA kids normally are the safest to draft if a Victorian side drafts interstate

What the hell is wrong with you??!! Where's the hyperbole, melting, ranting and abuse in your post to fit in with the rest of us??!!

Great post, btw - content, grammar and punctuation 9/10. Sentiment and logic 10/10! :)

Sounds like Adams will stay for his contract. Collins from Freo apparently checking out a Melbourne clubs facility.

Freo would have to offer a pick and Collins to be in the ball park and not sure if we have a pick good enough to make it happen. Would have rathered our Mayne compo 23 on Adams.

Doubt a deal will get done

How strong a rumour is the bolded bit?
We get plenty of rumours all the time (there were a million Patton at the WO rumours a couple of years back).

Yep I heard it from a long time poster Salim Malik on our board mentioning it as just that a rumour. Like I said if we want a contracted Adams we should have at a minimum held on to Mayne compo.

Pick 23 wouldn't be enough
