1. JMac has already stated that the 2016 premiership was ahead of schedule so I'm sure they already had plans in place to continue building towards their predicted premiership window. The fact we won this year was the most magnificent bonus and might only alter slightly the plans they would have already had in situ.
2. In the new age of professional footballers with free agency shifting the power towards the players, we must begrudgingly accept that every club will at some stage lose players they want to keep for a variety of reasons (go home factor, opportunities, better money etc). We will always be happy when the player chooses to come to the Bullgods and be similarly aggrieved when our own chooses to leave. FWIW I hold no grudges when Callan Ward left. We had a chance to sign him and cannot begrudge him agreeing to leave for life changing $$$$. Now Griff, he can get stuffed.
We were pissed when Griff shafted the club but a few days later were over the moon when we signed Toyd, the big fish forward we have been craving sine C Grant retired. Swings and round-abouts.
Some of us are still stuck in the old VFL days when interstate players came to Victoria to play in the Big league.
Do I want to lose Hamling and Adams. Of course not, but we must then use the available list and salary cap space to make our own raid on interstate Victorians.
