Last week a rumour was posted that Adams was hated at the club and everyone ripped into that poster calling him all sorts of names. Maybe he wasn't so far off the mark?

Maybe it wasn't but I like to think it isn't true and that we can now turn this into something positive.

Marcus is in his first year. His first year. He cannot be paid more in his second (other than match fees) even if West Coast or Freo want to. This isn't about money, it's about family. The decision to request a trade away from a premiership team where he is best 22 would not have been taken lightly. Let's remember that although this bloody sucks for our football club, we knew his family stuff before we drafted him.
There's nothing requiring him to stay in Melbourne, if we don't receive adequate compensation for him, we can hang onto him and he can sit it out in Perth for a year.

Aside from the financial implications, that's why I'm very hesitant to have a go at Adams (or anyone) for asking to trade for family reasons. You're right, those reasons aren't to be taken lightly.

I don't think I saw Adams at the GF or the event afterwards. Makes sense now. I guess the isolation of injury may have helped lead to this. I went to school with him and he was a top bloke. Terrible news for us, but it's his life and he's the one who needs to live it. If he wants that to be in Perth than so be it. This is the reality of football even if it's painful.

Sorry but it's not the reality of football. The reality of football is that you have to be willing to be drafted to any team if you want a career in it.

Currently Freo's lowest pick is 35 which doesn't cut the mustard IMO but we may be forced to take it or, there may be a decent Victorian player on their list and who would like to come home due to "family reasons" that we can accept as a trade.
