This will get him to 100 games. The breeding program can resume

100% he just wants them to give him the bag. And the time is now for him to strike because the Saints would look like A grade morons spending up on C & D graders then having Wilkie, Marshall and Windhager demand trades.
So be It. We're doing the rest of the competition a favour by effectively tossing a portion of that war chest into the river( An already contracted player's pocket)

Yep and if that's all this achieves I'm happy with that. Bleed the Saints dry, every last dollar and if Wilkie comes to us, perfect. Win win.

Had to happen. Treloar also has the off-season to get himself as physically durable as possible. A fit Treloar in our team is a no brainer.
We should get him to go to Germany in the offseason to sacrifice and goat and inject its blood or whatever Max Rooke did to get healthy

Young got a better offer from Eagles so either stays at Tigers or heads west.
Dogs have approached the management of Butts but haven't made a formal offer yet as it depends on Wilkie’s decision, which is expected in the next two weeks so that we can put attention elsewhere if the play fails.
A few clubs offering Budarick deals of 3-4 years (dogs included), in the last two months suns have gone from no contract on the table to a one year deal and now up to a two year deal.
Bond is also one of interest as has been reported but he is focused on finals at this time and Crows very keen to keep him.
This frustrates me. No reason we shouldn’t bring in two KPDs. We’re just risking missing out on Butts too if we wait for an answer from Wilkie and it’s not like the two couldn’t play together.

Any idea on the Eagles offer to Young? Surely it’s not so absurd we can’t get close

I don't think it's a matter of one or the other rather balancing books and prioritising one over the other. I think we'd likely make an offer to Butts regardless of Wilkie’s decision, however an offer for Butts could be higher should we miss out on Wilkie.
I believe the offer for young is around the 500 mark for three years.

Seems like he’d be in that $600-800k range based on the current market. He’s certainly better than Aleer, who’s getting $700k.
Again not an exact figure but North have 750 x4 on the table. He is on roughly half that currently.

IMO we would be mad to not match (or beat) that.

I didn't realise others were also sniffing around Butts.

If Wilkie is indeed staying at the Saints, it's not panic stations, but you'd think we'd have to be nabbing one of the above two (or have a ready-to-go alternative in mind). Might actually be a blessing if that Saints ITK is correct and we 100% know the door has completely shut and we can move on. You don't want to be leaving these other two guys needing to make a definitive decision and we're umming and arrghing on what contract we can offer, if at all.

And it is a constantly moving puzzle - if we nab one of these two, someone like Vlastuin will be available next year for no trade cost - nabbing a player of similar quality to Wilkie a year later while keeping both first rounders might not be a disaster (of course it goes without saying that we'd all prefer Wilkie in 2026).

Hypothetical here..

What would you offer Butts in terms of dollars?
North have offered 3 x $600k which is a nice ballpark. We have that cash and we have to be seen as a better destination.
