a million a year with 4 left at Nth. Not with a barge poleI'd take Simpkin if we don't land any big fish this year. Splash some cash.

Perfect Larry David expression for this suggestion![]()
Wants to leave for more Midfield time. He won't get that here.
Another saints overpayment incomingFlanders has requested a trade.
Not a priority but I wouldn’t mind him at half back.
If he wants more mid minutes I wouldn’t want us to go for him, don’t rate him highly in the middle

Why would you take out our best midfielder for an inferior player to accommodate an inferior player? If Merrett was obtainable and open to a trade to us I would pursue it.
Outside the box I would put Bont behind the ball and have Merrett, Richards, Libba, Treloar, Freijah and Kennedy as the inside nucleus.
This is if no first choice key defenders are available.
Dawks are involved. Will go there.Surely we go for Merrett.
Kicking to Darcy and Naughton he would be sensational.
And another left footer mid/ winger/ half back.
Pretty sure he was a dogs supporter as a kid.
Need to explore all options to improve this shaky defence. Why would you take out our best midfielder for an inferior player to accommodate an inferior player?
Good chance of Butters just not this offseasonNeed to explore all options to improve this shaky defence.
Wilkie and Butts would be 100% best case scenario but history dictates we just don’t get the big names through the door.
I think Bont could Marshall a pretty strong defensive unit and you could replace him with someone like Butters (preference) or Merrett.
We cannot enter this off-season with the same defensive unit and a couple of fringe options added. Won’t get the job done.
Some pretty ballsy trade moves are required.
Pretty mute point anyway cause we won’t get either Butters nor Merrett.

Bont would IMO be more valuable in defence and I think it's time we try something new. Would love Butts as well but seems iffy right now. Bont going back strengthens our backline and opens up an on ball spot too. Feel like it is the big move Bevo needs to experiment with.Need to explore all options to improve this shaky defence.

Thank god you’re not the coachBont would IMO be more valuable in defence and I think it's time we try something new. Would love Butts as well but seems iffy right now. They won't get him anywayIs Butters to Hawthorn less likely if they get Merrett?
Well the past 5 years of him being the best on baller have led to nothing so why not the next 5 years in defence spoiling the ball out of bounds, intercept marking and using his elite kicking to launch counter attacks? I think it is worth a shot to at least look at.Thank god you’re not the coach
You don’t address your defensive deficiencies by taking the best midfielder in the clubs history and plonking him in the backline. You recruit competent defenders which, evidently, is exactly what we’re currently trying to do.Well the past 5 years of him being the best on baller have led to nothing so why not the next 5 years in defence spoiling the ball out of bounds, intercept marking and using his elite kicking to launch counter attacks? There is a chance that comes to nothing and we also lose Buku and Jones. Don't think I will be voicing my opinion on here for a whileyes Bont on ball was the issue
Why didn’t we try Vandermeer in the ruck or Libba as a forward pocket
bit rough with the feed back
