On paper doesn't look too great on his 25 season. What should I be excited about here, I need to go talk shit elsewhere that he's the best bargain buy of the trade period

More your lockdown defender in the Duryea mould, rather than an accumulator or running half back. A neat kick and can give us a little disposal out of the backline but primarily a guy for the small - medium forwards that cause us issues. Elite running and fitness type who had huge yoyo tests in his draft year, physical and hard defender.

Posted this yesterday but - Interesting as well that Rhylee West called Michael Regan after the Budarick rumours first came out and said something along the line of "he gave me absolute fits last year when we played Gold Coast, get him in!"

My hypothetical I posted yesterday was
Jamarra & F3 for Budarick and F4. Purely speculation though.


North want him for his versatility, see him playing variety of defence, wing and pressure forwards where as the dogs pitched a permanent return to defence.

Which that Defender is where Budarick see himself as primarily. So you would think that suits him better unless Norf are throwing stupid money at him.

We always seem to get fringe defenders. In fact, I'd hazard a guess that more than 50% of our recruits under Bevo have been defenders.

Hamling, Biggs, Suckling, Duryea, Trengove, Keath, Bramble, Jones, JOD, Gardiner (although taken as a fwd), Coffield and now Budarick. I'm probably missing a few.

nb: I'm not suggesting all those players are fringe. Certainly not. But all defenders, majority can probably be considered fringe at the time we got them.

Fringe —- no no , cunning defender.

Budarick was dropped after our game last year and didn’t come back in for another 15 rounds (not sure if he got injured at the lower level which kept him out or not). I guess West didn’t kick any of the 18 we kicked that day although Weightman dobbed 6

Considering Melbourne have cooled on Wade Derkson, we should have a crack at him.

Would be cheap and would definitely bolster our defensive stocks.

I’m a bit biased but I think he will flourish once finally given an opportunity

I like his intercept game. Plus he can play both ends. Don’t think he’s a star in waiting but could be good depth.

24 year old out of the Suns academy. 175cm genuine lockdown type. Played 19 games this year mostly as a pressure forward which was a career high next best was in his debut 2020 season where he played 15 and burst onto the scene as that lockdown small. In between he has had 2 ACL's and played 2,9,2 & 8 in his other four seasons.

We do need KPD Depth and who knows might flourish if he gets back to Vic and is more settled with family assistance
