Sam Frost looking pretty good right about now.

I’m not worried about backing in JOD and Buss, I think their improvement will be better than anyone we pick up bar Wilkie.

What I am worried about is losing Jones and Buku; decent KPD depth, and not bringing anyone else in.
I respectfully disagree. I’m sh***ing myself at the prospect of that outcome 🤣

A lot of top 8 teams are going to get stronger through smart trades this period
Merrett to hawks , Oscar Allen Draper to brissie , rowan marshal to Geelong . Even Jamarra to Gold Coast will strengthen them if he can pull he’s head in .

We can’t head into next year without bringing anyone decent over this trade Period. Would leave us even further behind the pack heading into next year

This is only third hand, but apparently Mark Riccuito was on Triple M the other day and said he had taken his - apparently very good looking - daughter to the Brownlow. He said he was approached by Kochie who asked if she wanted to go out with Zak Butters because they’re desperate to keep him at Port 😅

If players don’t want to move despite being offered a good contract by us, what are we really expected to do?

I agree the depth in that area is looking bare but so is the market. We’re likely to see natural improvement from JOD / Buss which will in turn help Lobb.
We may need to play smaller at times with Cleary / Williams / Sellwood. We could also see Walker / Croft get a taste back there.

Offer more money , we have the cap room

We have great facilities, close to the city, it bemuses me why we can attract people.

I think its to do with our game plan, especially as a defender

Zac must have been spewing that Bont took Doc….that was supposed to be his seat….next year it will be

That’s what trade radio is all about. Repeating the same conversation day after day as there is nothing new to talk about.
And here I was thinking that Trade Radio ran during Trade Period.

I is so dumb.
The worry all along was we would end up with nooone while losing depth in the backline

If at the end of trade period Jack Silvagni, and Leek Aleer or Young the latter two we were never really connected to turn out to be the only quasi KPB of note to change clubs.

Then we haven't missed out on anything.

We currently have enough depth of KPB on the list. The issue is one of quality and even though we're trying stupidly hard with Wilkie you just cannot manifest quality out of thin air. The same goes for Jordan Butts. A guy who is contracted for another 12 months and who it feels is nothing but a fever dream of people in here who were looking through other teams lists in hope of finding anybody who could fill the role. Even when news broke of our interest in him became public recently the connection always felt tenuous at best.

Besides there's always the Steven May option.

Who will probably be the best credentialed KPB to change clubs during the Trade period.

Whether we were feigning our disinterest, he's cooked or just a psycho are other questions entirely.

Purely as a Jones replacement for depth, I think it makes sense if Butts and Young are out of the equation.

Croft I think has all the tools to be an excellent KPD, but is raw and will be inconsistent, and there is an element of robbing Peter to pay Paul. But if we miss on every KPD option, Peter is a multi-millionaire and will be ok with being robbed compared to Paul who is currently living in his car and relying on food stamps to survive.

Otherwise, other options this year - many on this board seem to have gone cold on Blanck after seeing him play, but although probably not the exact type of KPD we're looking for, Serong is out of contract? Really wish we got both him and Butts, so I could do a Sarong providing cover for Butts joke, but the trade market wouldn't allow it.

And if we miss on all of Butts, Turner and Wilikie, we really need to get on the front foot for next year - make ourselves destination #1 for Vlaustin as a free agent, and put an over the odds offer for both of the out of contract Butts and Daniel Turner.

There'll be a player at another club who will get shaken out if their own club can't guarantee them a best 22 spot, it just might take a while to play out once that club themselves highlights their recruits

doesn’t sound like Butts will leave Adelaide according to Riley Beveridge.

Jedd is coming into his 3rd proper preseason and JOD is coming into his 4th Preseason,

Whilst a Wilkie would be ideal it's not hard to make a case that both are likely to make some more strides in their consistency and strength as they mature.

The players other then Wilkie we have been linked with are at best solid players and realistically again with natural development alone there is no reason Jedd especially cant get to that level as well as fill out a bit more to become the FB we need

Hopefully we get someone but I think changing the way we defend is more important than any player we bring in.

JOD is a fine player. He’s athletic, he can take a mark and he reads the ball pretty well off the boot. His biggest problem is positioning and us leaving a plethora of space in the oppositions forward 50 and asking him to take the attacking position leaves him very vulnerable. I think if we let him play back shoulder and had any sort of pressure on the ball, he’d do a fantastic job.

If we don’t get anyone I’m fine with bringing in Frost. We can’t have Gardner being first man in

Brandon Starcevich becomes the perfect target: still mid-20s, finals hardened, and immediately slots into the #1 or #2 defensive role. If Brisbane match or the cost is too high, Jordon Butts is the next best fit as a plug-and-play stopper. Jai Serong is still worth pursuing for development, but he can’t be expected to carry the load in 2026–27.

Starcevich is 1 concussion away from retirement, Butts we are targeting however is contracted Serong is no different to what we already have

Sounds like Buderick is the one we are most likely to get which will make a difference already as small defender has been a bigger weakness

Sam Frost is a big culture addition
Extremely liked player throughout the league

Would be happy to have him as a stop gap defender

The same Tom Morris that told the world that Nas was genuinely undecided about 6 hours after he he had told his Captain and Vice Captain of his decision to stay which was the day after the night before when he'd told his family? That Tom Morris? Ok. Sure.
Why do you speak in riddles sir?
