Hawks going hard for Merrett after battle and barrass took them further this year

Lions 2 flags get Allen and draper

Cats chasing curnow after smith last year

Suns rolling the dice on JUH and chasing petracca

These are all teams we came close to this year gapping us before next year starts while we wait and see.

If you’re happy with doing the bare minimum of a back pocket and the draft you just don’t get how high performance games work.

This is why we float in the middle and the current admin is happy because they can spin it.

The one time we had the balls to make a big move? We won a flag. Then we go back into our shell.

The only lesson here is our coaching team might take some inspo from the off-field crew in being defensive.

I want the best for the club and folks get pissed if you question anything but we need to do more and do better.

And if the Hawks and Cats don't land either which is a real chance neither have strengthened Worpel is an average footballer

Suns are brining in Trac who has been poor for years now and JUH who we all know what has happened there

Lions are brining in a poor ruckman coming off an Achilles tear and has done multiple ACLs who relies on athletiscm and an injury prone KPF who in theory is replacing Daniher

We chased JSOS and Wilkie hard and missed out so when Geelong don't get Curnow they have to be in the same boat and have a terrible admin with no balls right?

Were you saying this last year when we had the best defence in the comp?

Christ this level of bedwetting is funny
The leader and best KPD of that 2024 defence was Liam Jones. He went off the boil in the back part of that season and didn't return to form in 2025 either.

Anyway whether he could help or not is academic. He's no longer on our list.

Unless of course we rookied him.

It's fine to want the club to do more but you're misrepresenting the truth if you think we're doing the bare minimum.

At some point, if everybody is shocked every year at the value of key defenders (e.g., Silvagni, Aleer, Zerk-Thatcher, Ratugolea, McKay...) they probably need to get with the program and realize that it's just an incredibly expensive position. If you want to fill it you've gotta pay up big.
Whether BF nuffies get it or not, the people who most need to understand this most are our LM team. On the evidence of recent years that's not a given.

idk maybe its just me but its like super obvious the kid is gonna end up leaving. it really seems like the club and player arnt super into each other
Are you just getting this from the media jerks? (Who was it that was quoted - Edmund and Quornz?)

It was only this season that Sanders and club were reasserting their love for each other and Ryley was saying very positive stuff about staying.

I know things can change but it's not quite time to toss the toys out of the cot. Yet.

Did the club not offer former AA defender Callum Wilkie a 4-5 year at 1.2 million a year or did I imagine that?
We also chased Barrass before Hawthorn did, but there are certain people that believe that effort is only made if results are shown.

The truth is when a high quality player is available, there's usually always more than one interested party. That doesn't make all of those that miss out failures, or lacking in effort. We know the holes we have, we've tried to fill them, but we aren't going to just throw draft collateral away for unproven players in very crucial key areas of the ground and hope for the best. At the very least those upset that we aren't filling the holes we have should be happy that the club is genuinely giving filling them a crack, but even that is too hard at times, it seems.

I know everyone is "knocking it on the head", but...

Can any ITKs shed any light on an (alleged) recent coincidental bumping-into-each-other-what-are-the-chances chat between Renee and Wayne Butters and an ex-club president? 🤔

Bont trade request to Port confirmed.

Sanders was gone as soon as the Tassie team was approved.

When change happens, it tends to change quickly, with low to mid table teams suddenly jumping up to 8 positions on the ladder. You dont get that by adding a player or two, its down to gameplan, teamwork and attitude.

Having said that, can someone explain why we axed Liam Jones? Is he that physically shot?

Not sure what the issue is?

Is he not allowed to point out that to improve the team we need to bring in players that actually do that I.e Wilkie is clearly better then what we have without hitting reply to 15 different people saying we are standing still doing nothing?
If you think that we need to do xyz, then state that without disparaging other posters. Or, quote the posts you don't agree with and respectfully disagree with them and state your case.

Young isn't any better then what we have thats the point

And if they don't get SDK then they're at the same level we were with Wilkie
You must hold Busslinger and JOD in higher esteem than anyone. Higher than what Pencil case (holds Sanders to.

Busslinger was subbed in out last game of the season and pushed out of the backline in our VFL grand final. That indicates that they do not have complete confidence in him yet to be a dependable player down back.

JOD should be a 3rd tall/interceptor/ whatever title you wish to give this role at most. There’s still a question of if he can become a reliable 2nd key defender.

Busslinger was subbed for extra run and was pushed forward in the last quarter because Walker couldn't get a kick

Can someone actually name a defender they think we should have targeted? The only one I've seen mentioned is Tyler Young. What other KPDs are going to other clubs? Serong, Aleek??

We tried with Wilke, Silvagni, Butts and all said no. The market is very thin and we have had a crack at shaking one out.

Some are acting as we are sitting on our hands, clubs like North and Swans desperately need key backs as well and who are they getting in? Fact is there isn't a lot around this year.

I'm not comfortable with our KPD stocks next year but you can't be just getting anyone in just because. They have to be better then what we have.
