The Bulldogs trade period (once again) reminds me of a saying that’s always stuck with me.

“Even if you’re on the right track, you’ll get run over if you just sit there.”

We have to prepare for a world without Butters. Can easily see him going to a Hawthorn or Geelong as they aren’t perpetual underachievers.

Maybe he has the character but very few stars go to an underachieving club just because they support them. And I’m saying that know he and his family are diehards.

In the past decade we have as many flags as both of said teams and more GF appearances then Hawthorn

How are we underachieving and they’re thriving?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and to use their time however they please, but there may not be a bigger waste of your time on here (except discussion Zak Jones trade ideas with Big Floppa) than suggesting sending Naughton to the back line. It clearly is not going to happen at this point and he just had a fantastic year in one of the most important positions on the footy field (CHF), where he was borderline All Australian. That would then leave us with just Darcy and a still skinny and developing Croft to hold up the forward line, opposition teams would absolutely love that and just send two to Darcy all game.

The only way I could see this happening was for us to recruit Marshall and play English up forward or do a 50/50 split. That way you could release Naughton down back. You're right though, it won't happen and most laughed at my idea.

My frustration is I can't see us are going anywhere with what we are doing and seeing us stick to the same thing ain't gonna work.

They have been told no this year, they're coming again next year when he is OOC.

Smith all over again.

Be smart Dogs, use your heads. Get busy.

As for Butters, we have to go for broke here. Whatever it takes. Godfather offer to Port. Like has been said he is enough to get us to flags. Have to have a decent shot.

Potentially holding onto Khamis aswell Although that I can get behind, alot lest trade capital riding on it and in a position of need.
If Sanders is desperate to live closer to his brother and we can turn him into a First and Butts I'd do it.

Trade him this year before we lose him next year for less.
Is there any indication that its actually a two way conversation?

Because it reminds me of the stories from earlier in the week about clubs asking about Nick Daicos' status.

That's overs for current Petracca imo. Fair enough pre injury but he hasn't been the same since

Gold Coast have been shit for so long and have used 1000 top 10 picks

Might be overs on paper but just need to get that deal done while they look like finally turning things around

The price seems about right for a team on the verge of making a serious flag tilt. Especially if the draft is as shallow as the experten would have us believe.

He may not ever return to his dominant best. But I thought he was pretty good in most of the games that I saw him play.

Indeed he played well enough to come second on Melbournes B&F
