I'm not sure it could look worse if they tried.Unrelated, but holy moley our apparel for next season is absolutely shocking.
Time for a new apparel sponsor
Its just a couple of jackets, who cares about the colours used on that. Main thing we need fixed is the hoops on the actual guernsey.I'm not sure it could look worse if they tried.
Since when is baby blue a colour we use for official merchandise in our club?
Pretty sure it was a white hoodie that someone accidentally put in the wash with some darks.I'm not sure it could look worse if they tried.

Do we really need to be 'accumulating' draft assets?
If Butters chooses us, we'll have our 2026, 2027 & 2028 first rounders available for trade. I understand that Tasmania will weaken the draft pool but Port should have to choose between a package around those 3 selections or letting him walk for a top 5ish selection by itself.
Butters is a RFA and out of contract. Other clubs bend us over when our stars are out of contract because 'that's all we have to offer' and we should be doing the same.
I remember when Brisbane traded out their first rounder before dealing with us for Dunkley and the narrative was that it was a Bulldogs problem not a Lions problem. Yet if the shoe is on the other foot...Do we really need to be 'accumulating' draft assets?

How would Port get a top 5 pick for compensation?Do we really need to be 'accumulating' draft assets?

You can do better than thatHave heard from a reliable source that Port will let Butters walk and accept the free agency compo. There will also be a COMPLETELY UNRELATED trade in which we give up two first rounders for Willem Drew.
They finished 6th bottom last year and I can't see them improving. In fact, I see them regressing. How would Port get a top 5 pick for compensation?
They have a piss easy draw next year
Outside of the compo pick, is there a difference between a RFA and an out of contract player? I’d just assumed walking him to the draft wasn’t an option for some reasonDo we really need to be 'accumulating' draft assets?

They could and probably win their first 4 or 5. They double up against mostly bottom sides. They finished 6th bottom last year and I can't see them improving. In fact, I see them regressing.
He can reject Port's contract and nominate for the draft. Doubt he would do that though.Outside of the compo pick, is there a difference between a RFA and an out of contract player? I’d just assumed walking him to the draft wasn’t an option for some reason
The strike rate of this is SERIOUSLY underwhelming. I'm not necessarily advocating that Coffield should have been kept, but over the last 7 years the standout draftees from pick 50 > include Jase Burgoyne, Calsher Dear, Toby Bedford, Noah Answerth, Lachie Schultz and Hugo Garcia.Every single draft there are kids at pick 50 to 70 that go onto be gems - I would prefer to take a risk here and there.

Lawson Humphries was in there too, but I don't really rate him as anything but a lone (and I mean LONE) man in defence and distributor.

I get that too, but having a <5% chance of drafting someone serviceable (note not a superstar, just serviceable) vs having a bloke that can actually readily come in and play a role if we desperately need them to, plus being able to assist with in-game development and coaching of VFL and young players (ie Jacques), I'm not sure the reward is there.I get it’s a low success rate, but I just personally think holding onto guys we know will be delisted - so that’s a zero percent success rate.
The headline is pretty misleading, he was fairly tight lipped when asked about Butters and spoke to strengthening our hand more generally. Can we assume that Zac has indicated that he wishes to cross to the Dogs? Otherwise why would the club be so vocal and upfront about it?
I don’t want to get my hopes up but that’s what I took from it that Maybe Zak has told the club that he wants to join. Remember listening to a story that that Franklin told Josh Kennedy that he was joining them 12 months before handCan we assume that Zac has indicated that he wishes to cross to the Dogs? Otherwise why would the club be so vocal and upfront about it?
