Bannister, Johnson, Mcgrath, Prendergast will stay and the rest will go. We've been developing for 3 years and we are where we were in 2002.

Prendergast will definately go. Johnson, Bannister, McGrath, Norman and Davies are less certain to go. Longmiur has a two year contract.

I think Houlihan would be good trade bait...he is an excellent young receiver that could demand quite a good player in return...either a good CHB or an inside midfielder...of all the young players he is the best to trade...guys like Thornton and Waite are just to important...especially given Pagan's style of football and they would not necesarily get what they are worth to us. If Houlihan left we would still have Lappin, Campo, Scotland, Chambers, Stevens etc who can play a sweeping role in defence or on the wing.

We have enough receivers...and he would be very valuable to another side and therefore would quality player in an area where we are lacking.

Scotland another player we could offload...not sure we could get much anymore...maybe a late draft pick. Pagan should play him in the centre the last six weeks (if we are still at the bottom of the ladder)...he always gets junk possessions...we might be able to up his price before offloading him...a bit like steam cleaning the carpets before you sell a house.

Gold :D

We wouldn't get jack for Hoola! We need to get serious if we are to trade and use someone huge i.e Stevens.
He never wanted to come to Carlton anyway.
Just ponder for a moment what we could get for him?!
And as for the previous list,I agree in principle but then what are we left with?
Realistically we need a quality ruckman,a couple of monsters in the backline,a KPP and a half forward flanker or two!

E.G. Steven King
Cameron Mooney,Presti
Trent Croad
Russell Robertson,Scott Lucas(with a right foot as well!)

2 Player to watch out for in this years Draft!

1. Marcus Drum..he's a GREAT full back!..and is tall!...He's a VERY smart player..He reads the game REALLY WELL! and is a player WE NEED!!!

2.Mitchell Clarke is a player we SHOULD look at....He's goin to be the next WAYNE CAREY! He takes beautiful marks in the pack!!! an absolute CHAMP!!! and is around 195 cm TALL! He also is a Great KICK!

Well let's hope we finish 16th and win less than 5 1/2 games and we will be able to draft both of them as we desperately, desperately need some young tall KP defenders or forwards who can take a mark over their head. Until we improve our defence we will be doomed for ever and a day to the bottom half of the table.

Anyone who doesn't think this about our list is well and truly kidding themselves.!!!

didn't you's just trade for longmuir last season???

and i love seeing all this talk about scotland being up for trade bait...
All the talk last year was on how much of a blunder it was by collingwood to trade him, and how insane it was he struggled to get a game for a team that played in back to back GF's....

Can't see i was glad to get him go, but I always thought his problem was that he over rated himself. Instead of staying and fighting to get a game, he had a nice whinge and asked to be traded....

People on a whim seem to like delisting players on the spot based on a few bad games, rather their performances as a whole.

Prendergast and Davies have been on our list for a long time now and have had ample time to prove themselves, and apart from a few quarters of good football they have done nothing. We knew from the start that Clarke and Bowyer weren't up to it, so the harder choice is left to the rest.

We only just got Longmuir so give him one more year. The call on Norman is premature at this stage, so he really should have the rest of the season to justify why we should keep him. Bannister and McGrath are actually handy players, and have put in more good performances than any of those other players on that list and we suddenly decide to de-list them? On the basis on a few bad games? On that token we might as well delist 2/3 of our team.

Bannister, McGrath, Teague and Chambers (he is excused because of injury) are the only ones to have contributed and put in some good performances out of all our "rejects". We all know Heath Scotland is a better player than all of the above, and last year he was a decent midfield option... low on confidence now and out of form, just like the rest of the team. But he is a skilful player, and tough at it. Keep him. Because he is valuable to us when he has confidence.

I wouldn't delist Davies he still has a lot of potential IMO.

I agree. I reckon Davies gets a tough run on Bigfooty. He looks dangerous when he gets the ball, he just needs an opportunity in midfield and I think he'd do alright. I don't think a forward pocket is his spot.

I agree too about Davies!
Get Campo, Scotland and Houlihan out of the centre...put them on forward flanks or wings in their natural environments. Rotate the 4th centre square position (French, Kouta and Stevens) between some of the younger guys such as Bentick, Davies, Carazzo...even play two in the square if Kouta or Stevens needs a spell.
In the game before he was dropped I saw him do some good things...saw him dive on the ball when few other players were willing to!

at the moment we are robbing peter to pay paul.

we need drive/creativity out of the back line so we put lappin/houla there.
both are better suited to forward/wing roles

we lack key defenders with livo out, so we move lance there, meaning waite and co are on a better defender.

Good point. Houlihan needs to play wing or at least let him roam around the centre where he can run forward with the footy and deliver to Fev and co... that's where he'll be most damaging.

Why what?? If you mean being under the pump it is because he is 23 & has not shown anything to suggest he will solve our ruck problems. Maybe a bit harsh considering ruckman take longer to develop & I'm sure Dennis will give him opportunity between now and seasons end to see if he can cut it! Hope he makes it.

This is all very well but if we don't think they are up to snuff, why would anybody else?
Why not go through each player named, pick the club they would most likely be wanted by, and then tell us what your marketing ploy would be.
For example, lets say you thought Essendon might be interested in Livingstone.
How would you pitch it to Kev Sheedy? "Kev...this boy Livingstone is just about to hit his straps and could easily fill a hole for you at full-back allowing Dustin to go to CHB. He's got pace, strength, and he's got youth on his side. A potential 200 gamer right there for you Kev and he's a snip for a late first round pick"
Kev replies "Gee.that's fantastic and real decent of you to offer us such a quality person and talented footballer, and for such a reasonable price too, especially when you haven't got anybody else to play at full back. Still, it just goes to prove that there is still fairness and decency in the game"
