Trade hypotheticals

I think the Saints are being reasonable, Pick 1 is always worth more, If GWS only see Petracca as their option then they have to give up big for it.

Last year when i said the Dog should try and get pick 1 people suggested Griffen/Libba and Pick 4 was what it would take, i see no difference here.

Clubs wont trade for pick 1 because the cost it too high.

Saints will keep Pick 1 and draft Petracca.

You really would have traded Griffen (still one of your best players and i would think a required leader)/Libba (probably leader of the next generation and young gun) + Bontempelli for Boyd?

Obviously addresses KPF position but the loss of 2 top line mids would hurt too much i think...midfield will always be the most important area on the ground. Your midfield would get smashed every week and Boyd wouldnt be able to get near it anyway

Of couse I wouldn't have. Its just what people thought we needed to offer to get pick 1.

Thoughts on this hypothetical Mega trade??

Beams to Brisbane., lose pick 4, lose second rounder

Dangerfield and JR to Collingwood. Lose Beams and Scharenberg, second rounder

Adelaides first round pick to Richmond, plus Brisbane's second rounder. Lose JR

Scharenberg and Pick 4 to Adelaide, plus Collingwoods second rounder. Lose Dangerfield and first round pick

What are peoples thoughts. I am not even sure this is my preferable scenario.

I am just thinking better for Beams in Brisbane now, Collingwood will want something for Beams rather than through FA. They get a chance to still chase a premiership

Richmond need younger list time to build, JR better chance to win premiership close to home and age peers with Pendles and Cloke etc....

Adelaide get something for Dangerfield instead via FA and south Australian connections to. Also have a chance to build with Scharenberg and pick(4)hoping Durdin!.

The trade scenario assumes Melbourne does not get pick 3 compo for Frawley because draft pick values changes if that compo gets up!

So Collingwood lose Beams, a bloke thats done a knee, and a low pick, and get 2 guns?? In this trade, Pies and Lions come out alright, Tiges and Crows get screwed. Poor old Crows to lose Danger AND a 1st round pick, get a bloke coming off a bad leg and a couple of picks......

Tiges would never trade JR unless handed the Earth itself, need a minimum 2x first rounders for him. Spearheads dont grow on trees

No Richmond supporter would suggest trading JR for picks 10 & 25 ish.
You're a troll or an idiot - I suspect both.

What do you think Jack Reiwoldt is worth then? If Jack Reiwoldt was traded to Gold Coast, for example, in a fair trade what should Richmond expect in return?
Top 5 pick. Minimum.

But Riewoldt won't go anywhere, and Richmond would be stupid to trade him.

Top 5 pick in any draft or this draft?

When you say minimum what do you mean or are you tying this to the Bulldogs first pick or they needs to be extra as well?

Unfortunately for you, Bulldogs has pick 5 so your response has lost credibility. I can't take any notice of vested Richmond supporters comments either!

I'm saying on an open market. We're not going for Riewoldt because there is no way he's leaving Richmond, and he would cost far too much.

Reckon 2 first rounders, but still wouldnt trade him. It basically equates to 2 (very good) lottery tickets for a prize you already have

Your link to a top 5 pick, to me, means you cannot separate the question from your beloved Bulldogs so I will ignore it
What? So because his team holds a pick in the range he values Riewoldt in his response is invalid? Doesn't make any sense. I'd say he is worth similar to Beams but Richmond won't trade him so it doesn't matter.

It depends. Would you want pick 2, or pick 9 and 10? It could go either way.

But yeah, the main thing is that he won't be traded.

That makes no sense. But to appease you, here's a different scenario.

His worth is similar to that of Dangerfield. Ie. Very high.

Now where talking. So you think JR i worth pick 9 and 10 or pick 2 and similar to Dangerfield. Good to know your opinion!

BTW what do you think Bontempelli is worth

who the hell cares what we say on our board. Fact of the matter is, we can speculate what we want, you guys can have a read and laugh if you so choose. We hold the cards, if there isn't a deal on the table that we like, we simply won't take it. The vast majority of us are more than happy to take Petracca, but we're also happy to speculate on potential offers that as a club, we'd entertain or take.

If GWS wants Petracca, they can start shuffling their players and picks into multiple combinations to try to appease us. And in this vein, it is more than likely - with the aggressive and methodical approach used by Pelchen, we'll only take a deal if it is significant overs in our favour. So who knows what will happen. Up to GWS' list management team to decide what they're willing to offer us.

Well we're not a benevolent society for St Kilda and our list is in way better shape than yours so if you don't like what we have to offer Pelican and co can toddle off and concentrate on the 10 year list rebuild to be competitive again.

A guy like Petracca is more a luxury to us than a necessity and we have KPF's coming out of our backside. We can add another one in McCartin to the list for cover and that will be just fine ;)

How is this for a 5 way trade. Anyone disappointed

Brisbane trade Matthew Leuenberger to Geelong for their 1st round pick
Brisbane trade Aish & Geelong's 1st round pick to Adelaide on the understanding Adelaide trade Dangerfield to Collingwood
Collingwood trade Beams to Brisbane for Dangerfield
Essendon trade Ryder to Brisbane for their first pick (4)

Brisbane end up with Ryder & Beams
Collingwood end up with Dangerfield
Essendon pick 4
Adelaide Aish & Geelongs fist round pick
Geelong end up with Leuenberger

Essendon and Collingwood disappointed. Geelong very disappointed. But realistically, they are getting a decent return. Brisbane VERY reluctant to give up Aish - pick 7 last year and played a lot of senior games in year 1, but may do it to get Beams and Ryder.

Still think Ryder is going to Port though

Those were arbitrary picks, it would fluctuate. No player is worth specifically pick 2, or specifically pick 9 and 10. It depends on the club and how they value him, which is why I said top 5 pick minimum. I'd change that to top 3 actually.

Bontempelli is top 3 pick as well. For what he's shown in 1 season is incredible. The ability to be a matchwinner, consistently play good football, the ability to play up forward, through the midfield, or down back. Add to that that he's still only 18, and I wouldn't be surprised if a club would trade pick 1 for him.

Macrae is a top 5 pick. He's shown the ability to consistently find enormous amounts of the football, BUT his kicking for the most part isn't too damaging. He's started adding goalkicking to his list of abilities, which he showed at junior level but hadn't shown much of at AAFL level. And his sidestep is special, as is his vision. But he needs to be more damaging to get more from a trade.

I'm going to say this once.

Aish will not be traded. At all. Just because he's from South Australia, does not mean he wants to go back. He will stay in Brisbane and be a gun for them.

Yep. Dead right. If he ever goes back to SA, it wont be soon

Well I would trade JR for Bontempelli in a heart beat.Wouldn't even think about it.

What would Bulldogs want to get the deal across the line. Name your price? If we threw in a second round pick would that do?
