We wont be rolling over on a contracted player holding a gun to our head. Thats why we hav given them until friday to come up with an offer.

Then we will start dealing with GC, his father lives on the gold coast afterall

You will have to roll over, the Lions are giving you pick 4 and maybe a sweetner. Be grateful and respect the plight of a player who wants to be with his father and dont hold him to ransom.

It will be an ugly look for the Pies if Beams sits out a year, but he will walk for nothing to the Lions.

Scharenberg*

You're a ******* Pies supporter, dude!
Just an example ..
Just to make u feel better
Scharenberg was a steal at 6, as he was number 2 in terms if talent. Clubs have taken his injury concerns during the draft, so on talent and potential alone he's still worth a top 6 pick as it negates his injuries. However this still depends on whether he can recover well or not

I think he's upset at the fact you can't spell his name

You could flip that around the other way though and say that Brisbane should be grateful and thank their lucky stars that someone as good as Beams is going to land in their lap for at the very least a fair value and yet they look to be trying to take advantage of this "plight" to rip Collingwood off. Pick 4/5 is nowhere near enough.

If Beams sits out the year it will be as much Brisbane's fault as Collingwood's, if not more, as they have a very good opportunity to get him for what would be a fair amount, which will still be a big win for them, especially since pick 5 this year looks like a bit of a "lottery".

If I were Beams and Brisbane didn't offer Collingwood a fair value for me and as a result the deal fell through I'd be just as filthy with them as I would be with Collingwood, if not more so and may be just as happy to go elsewhere in 12 months time, when circumstances could of course be much different.

.

The Lions had been screwed last year losing a glut of good players leaving them for dead with poor returns. I can understand why now they are doing what they are doing.

As I said, the Lions may offer a sweetner for Beams to go along with Pick 4 but the Pies are in fantasy land thinking they will get a good player in addition.

Its not a good look also for the Pies to have a player wanting to be close to his sick father and being refused to be traded.

Both clubs are acting tough and asking for/expecting too much and as a result I think both will settle on something in the middle and Collingwood are under no more obligation here to make this happen than Brisbane are. They don't owe Brisbane any favours. It's not in any way shape or form unreasonable for them to expect a fair return for their 2nd best player who they generally have no desire to trade.

Would you just let your 2nd best (one of Dangerfield, Walker or Sloane, I guess) go for less than a fair deal if they suddenly asked out under similar circumstances next week and the club they wanted to go to tried to take advantage of the situation and offered unders for them, when they can afford to pay more?

We had that exact same thing happen to us with Gunston when he walked and then demanded to be traded only to the Hawks. We got a pick in the mid 20s.

It happens to all Clubs at some stage.

Was he contracted, very much required and seeking to go home for exceptional personal reasons?

Contract was not up, he was homesick. Which is fair enough, but then dictating the terms of where we wanted to play was not something that sat well with the Club. I guess with Beams its fine he wants to go home, but GCS have ruled him out, so the point is moot.

Mr Grotto you seem to have a lot to say.
Beams trade will get done, I respect the go home factor with his dad, but pretty poor form not to front up to club B&F!
His disrespected the club and all we are trying to do is help get him get to QLD and gain a fair trade! Pick 4 & a quality player.

How do you know he wasnt told to not rock up to the Club B&F?

In any case, it is an uncomfortable situation and he is putting his family first. Suck it up.

Strong chance, Dangerfield will return to Victoria to the Hawks or the Cats. Such is life.

Danger wont be going to the Pies, you guys wont be doing anything at all for about 3-4 years.
