I think it's mandatory to request your best South Australian player.
Who is your best South Australian player?
I hope he's good. :p

Reilly's trade value wouldn't be terribly high right now, so I'd rather we kept him. He's still contracted after all.

And Vic Crow, we're not interested in Nick Holland. ;)

1st round draft pick.......tas it :thumbsu: but Id keep him if hes happy

But........should he be showing signs of itchy feet, youd be better off trading him to Port (who are after midfielders).....that way they can spew up when he gets homesick and leaves.

We need young midfielders. Reilly is a young midfielder. We would need to replace him with someone similar in which case I can't see much point, personally.

Absolutely. Most of our best midfielders are at or pushing 30.

I hope he will stay at the AFC until he retires, but if we had to use him in a deal for example to secure a Pavlich, Cooney or Griffen then I would be more than happy to trade him.......... ;)

Agreed.

Reilly is still developing and should come good. Still inexperienced as well so he still has time to become consistent, first 18 performer.

Reilly + Watts = Griffen

:)
I am a HUGE Griffen fan (same can be said for Cooney) but I just feel very uneasy when discussing trading a great key forward prospect for a fantastic midfield prospect.

I would love to have Griffen but I would also love to keep Watts.

Agree with you in theory but IMO Griffen is the kind of midfielder that comes along once every 5-10 years. The boy is an absolute star and has that special something about him. Would almost certainly be Captain our club at some stage were he to come home.

I'd love to have Fergus keep developing and stay with us but if all the rumours are true (which 85% of the time they're not) then let him go home and combine Reilly with him to snare the very best talent going around.

defintely do not trade him..

to say he is underperforming is a massive understatement, this kid has the ability to be a star..

his trade value could not get any lower at present i dont think

My prediction is that Reilly will be one of our best midfielders next year. He has shown a heap of potential and it is simply jumping the gun trading him at this point. He can only improve from here. I believe he is one of our better "up and coming" bread and butter players.

Can someone please tell me who on the Crows list that is aged 21 or under that is a better player than Reilly?

He can play midfield, back and is learning now how to play as a forward in the AFL. He can play, i rate him massively and think he will be a star for the crows in years to come. Remember he is 21. He is rated very highly by the crows and so he should be IMO

I agree James.

Reilly is getting a solid grounding, so he can step-up over then next few years when required to take over from our current gun midfielders. Our midfield is where we are going to be most vulnerable in a few years, so to trade 1 of our quality young midfielders would be crazy.

Same as the others. This is the year that Reilly is being converted by Craig from an outside wing-man to an inside on-baller, as that will be our desparate need in about 2 to 3 years time

I expect him to be one that steps up next year after a grounding in his new role this year.

He won't be traded.

Would you guys consider trading Reilly+Watts for Pick 3. Pick 3 would allow Adelaide to secure the best South Australian in the draft, Shannon Hurn, because it seems as if Carlton and Collingwood have just about committed to selecting Murphy & Ellis with there picks 1 and 2.

I’m told that Hurn is an absolute gun. Has similar attributes to Mark Ricciuto; Strong body, fantastic skills and reads the play brilliantly. By far the best South Australian in this years draft.
Hmm, interesting......

I think we would at least consider it.

Funny how reilly is going to be a star now. I hope so but cant see it. There is nothing that really stands out. Solid player at best. Agree that we shouldnt trade him if he wants to stay. Why we drafted a wingman with our first round pick is amazing too, i suppose all the inside players or genuine midfielders must have been gone.

Jack at the time we were in desperate need of a wingman. Quite simply we didn't have a genuine wingman on the list. The slection of Reilly as a classy, running wingman was so obvious that every possible mock draft (including those on afl.com) has us selecting Reilly with pick 12.

At the time we were pretty set with inside midfielders as we had Roo, Bickley, Kane Johnson, Stenglein and Edwards all on the list and playing good footy.

Is it worth trading back Reilly to a Victorian club? And what do you think his realistic worth is?

I think we would get less than what we paid. If it was based on this years before performance we should get between 50-70. If it was based on name, for some reason he is still highly rated in Vic ( see Salopak ), 18-30.
