Trade Week: Won or Lost?

dee-molishon would it ever hurt you to write in sentences. Also I don't think this trade week necessarily dooms us to be stuck in the bottom four for the next few years. Getting rid of TJ and the likes of Godfrey, Ward and Brown may set us back a bit, but when we do start heading up the ladder with quality young players getting experience together we should have enough momentum to atleast make the top 4, not just a semi final.

do u read what i post or just a bit of it??? I SAID: we will have a premiership caliber type team in 4 years from now..............as for the sentences na cant be bothered...............if i wanted to take an english and punctuation lesseon i would be on the BigEnglish forum

i like your thinking behind keeping miller. not only could bailey turn him around, but he has atleast got the leadership skills and the right attitude. it hurts to lose trapper but i like the analogy someone posted that its like breaking up with a girlfriend... it hurts but you know its the right thing.

why is maxwell for the pies a hero and so called captain and miller is bagged like crazy? same player i reckon

Absolutely ecstatic about our trade week. Tough calls had to be made, and i'm glad Bailey and co. had the balls to get rid of TJ in order to get us back on track. Also sends a great message to the players who think that mediocrity will be accepted. The vibe i'm getting from Bailey so far is this: Work you arses off or you won't be part of the Melbourne FC going forward. Great stuff Bails. :thumbsu:

I was referring to the bit where you said 'there will be some tough times', and with our current list and a good run of injuries I don't see why their has to be tough times, if the players all work together then we can make the eight this year and the next few before the team that Bailey is building around takes us to a flag (thats the dream). And the sentence thing is more out of respect to other posters, this isn't a chat room.

i love all the moves made by "bails" absolutely love it............and the rest of u melbourne supporters who are in so called "mourning" in losing travis johnstone, i can promise u wont be saying this in 4 years time when we have a young good team who may challenge for a premiership.
Lets face it if u think this list we have now is going to win us a premiership u are delusional, and if u think we can change this list over night again u are delisional.........it takes time to change all certain things that this club does not have and needs to win premierships........we need a backline, we need pace, we need work ethic and most of all we deperatley need some "tough love" and some sort of culture. Bailey has put those steps in place and i can personally say at least i feel like we have a plan put in place and we are heading in some sort of direction for a change!!
U cant keep wacking band aids over a deep gash and thats exactley what we have been doing for the past 15 years, just been middle of the rung team who is around the mark but never quite good or consitant enough to be in the top echelon.
I want to win as much as the next melbourne supporter, but we need direction and culture and i think in the long term that is what will take us from being good to being great.
No wonder we havent won a premiership in so long, the majority of melbourne supporters would rather us be constantley mediocre than having a few hard years at the bottom of the ladder. There will be some tough times but we must stick it out and not band wagon as some of us have done in the past, for once i really can see light at the end of the tunnel........ im sick of being good i want us to be great!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I must say dee-mo, I agree with you totally. We need to change our veiw that mediocrity is acceptable. We have allowed it to go on forever and a day and it has got us no where, we can all quote finals appreances and 2000 GF but we have not won a flag since 1964!!! That is a massive inditment on what used to be the greatest football club in this country.
I think our list is not as good as we thought in 2006. We have very little pace, I love the way Brocky and Jonesy play out of the middle and we need there grunt but we have a very similar group pace wise. Getting rid of TJ recognises that, also the fact he had multiple chances to be a great player for us (no 1 draft pick) and he couldn't do it.

We specifically drafted over a period of years for height in defence, not sure where that has got us..

Looking forward to see how we go in the draft.

Bailey has made a tough stance and we now should go forward to try and win a premiership in the years between 2010 and 2012. Just unfortunate for Neitz, Yze, Whelan and White who wont be there andothers like Robbo, Green and Bruce who will be getting on if we do make it.

Exactly... they won't really be much use to use when we are challenging for a flag which is why i suggested trading them for high picks so we can get guys who will be there for us to win a flag but anyway.
I can't believe everyone is so bermused as to why Trav was traded. It was a good decision by Bailey (although i probably would of wanted their pick 8), to get a first round pick that will help us for the future is a good move.

I know where you are coming from in that you (like all MFC supporters) don't want to see the next 4 or 5 years to be wasted. Given that we have had a few delisted and a few retirees and now TJ going I think we have reached our limit for one year. To even consider getting rid of Bruce or Green as well would be detrimental. Dean Bailey said that we have blooded 10 new players in 2 years. If we recruit some KPP in the draft then our youth stocks are looking very good. Don't forget that Neita hasn't too much more to go as well. You may be correct in saying that Green and Bruce won't be in our next premiership side but that doesn't mean we should get rid of them now, we still need them.

I think coyboyfromhell put it best:
