After much talk of turning over the list and going after players i have to say i'm a bit disappointed at this stage at the lack of the Carlton name being associated with anything worth while.

There's hardly been a mumour from the club except in relation to Whitnall talking to St Kilda.

Unless something dramatic happens on Friday i'd have to rate our efforts an E minus.

Yeah, I've just said in another thread somewhere that Carlton should have been after a ruckman, tall defender and possibly an additional midfielder.

So unless something happens tomorrow (in a big way), I don't think we'll be getting all our wishes...

But having said that, I have faith in Pagan - he knows what he's doing.

It will all happen tomorrow, that's for sure (obvious statement of the day) ...

I think you will find it all hinges on the Ottens deal whether he is traded tomorrow or goes into the PSD.

If that goes ahead (or doesn't) I am pretty confident Dennis will be waiting close enough to the last minute to see what magic he can weave as clubs will be in a rush & panic to do deals before the 2pm deadline.

I have every faith in Dennis's judgement as to which trades he comes up with will be a positive for the club and hold us in good stead for the future.

Just remember this time last year when we aquired all those players on the last day which was a huge surprise to everyone

to be honest there hasnt been much quality being traded ...

we missed out on jolly ... thats it ... symonds was never gonna happen cos hes a money hungry moron!!!

there were no kp players traded ...

i would rather get 2 picks in the draft for lance ...

trade maybe for a harding and chris lamb, but thats about it.

stick with what we've got and make another assessment in 12 months.

I know it can seem exciting trading for established players and may seem like clubs who do so are going to benefit a lot by it but the truth is .... trading does not win premierships

Pagan realised last year that dramatic changes needed to happen to the list and hence the reason we were so heavily involved in trades however he realises and has stated that improvement is now going to come from our youngsters and our smart recruiting int he national draft.

Other then weeding out a couple players, we are at a stage when we really need to develop young talent and quick fixes such as a big name like Ottens etc are not going to help our club at all.

Let's just hope if we trade Lance that we got a couple of quality picks for the national draft.

Maybe, just maybe everything offered so far has come at to high a price and maybe, just maybe, Whitnall has been working himself into some shape - if not it looks like we could score anything from pick 5 down for him.

Picks 5 and 9... now that's what I'm talking about.

Carlton should try and deal with st. Kilda and try and get barry brooks for whitnall and also get a draft pick from st.kilda. If that doesnt work deal with freo and try and get simmonds 2 carlton heath black 2 freo and whitnall 2 st kilda thats what they should do

Brooks is a waste of time and Simmonds has said he will only go to Richmond and will hit the PSD if need be to get there - the trade at the moment looks like Black to Freo, Simmonds to Richmond and some from Richmond to the Saints (Currently Fiora).

If it is Fiora, the Saints have been dudded... hopefully they get a pick too.
