Is like the missus has gone into hosptial to give birth and you are sitting there for hours that melt into days, asking the docs when is it going to happen, and they say to you soon, each time you ask them. ;)

ya right cogga, need to induce it don't we...Hell just join the rest and make it all up.......should be a two day thing anyway...No need for 5 days

I liken it to a night out on the town with the lads. You're having a few beers and feeling pretty good about your chances.
Then at a very early stage in the night you notice some chick sizing you up and you just know that it's on. You're in.
But coz it's early, you can't just clinch the deal straight away. That would be silly.
You gotta wait and see if anything better comes along. But because you wait, you also run the risk of losing out to someone better who has a better offer.
So you act all cool as you don't give a toss when secretly you do.
Then if nothing better comes along, you move on over and the deal is done. But it's all in the timing.

Its a total farce. The AFL should basically say

"Ok lads, as soon as the grand final is over it's open slather and you have until X date to lodge all your movements.

like your work Tugg, a mate had a theory , always warm up on a couple of rough scrubbers early, just to set the scene that it looks like the ladies are falling all over us and raise the eye of any nearby hotties...My memory getting a bit hazy now and I cant remember what often followed..:p

i have had the stupid trade tracker that AFL has on their web site, happening from day one, and from the first 5 mintues on Monday until now, its only shown this,

Full List of 2006 Trades

Player Name Club From Club To Comments
Jason Akermanis Brisbane Lions Western Bulldogs Details yet to be finalised

woppie doo. How the f**k can they ratify a trade that there are no details for? HTF can it be a trade when there isnt anything traded is what baffles me? Its like th Lions have said to the Bulldogs, see what you can get for us, by the end of the week. ;)

Clubs would still leave everything till the last minute though IITB, I think it would be more frustrating, atleast this way its only one week of crap, could you imagine 4 months of this garbage spread out?

The only problem with the 'Go ugly early' is that that's probably where you'll end up. That's when you have to settle on the 'AFAFI' principle
A f@@@'s a f%%% irrespective!

Anyway I'll try not to flirt with any pretty girls until at least Thursday afternoon.

But you see LVAK, that's probably where you'll be at your most vulnerable. Still sober enough to care, yet drunk enough to lose your judgement. The best trades would be done at either end of the spectrum;

Early - Controlled, with a plan, give them what they want, tune them with all you've got, a bit of hard work, and it cost you a bit to get you over the line, but well worth it. Eg - The stacked brunette at the open air wine bar early on in the piece = Nathan Brown

At the Death Knock - Only the dregs are left, cost you nothing, but you don't care, you just want to get them over the line. And when you do, you can subject them to anything you want, because they didn't have any other choice, no-one else wanted them. And when you're done with them, kick them into the street. Eg - The force-fed mutt wearing the Lee jeans and t-shirt 4 sizes too small at 4.55am at the Tunnel nightclub = Tim Fleming

In betweeners may cost you a bit, and produce absolutely nothing = Paul Hudson

There's a new on eon there Cogga:

Western Bulldogs

St Kilda
The Bulldogs receive NAB AFL Draft pick 59 in exchange

But the Aker one has dropped off the list.

why do we trade only for one week at the end of the year? american sports (dont know if they all do but the NBA and NHL do) have open trading throughout the year and then a cutoff sometime toward the end of the season. i am not saying we should do it that way, i just wonder if it has ever been considered. if it was done that way, teams that have a shortage of a type of player due to bad list management or injury they can do a trade during the season to try and balance their list.

I couldn't agree more! & they are not afraid to trade, not like this saga that drags on over players who are not even in some clubs starting 22

Yeah but then you'd have the weird situation of free agents and stuff. You'd have people like Aaron Edwards getting drafted halfway into the year. Anyway I like to think that AFL is less about the money than those American sports, next thing you know you we'll have no salary caps and there'll be 4 teams that are competitive, and the rest shyte. It'll all snowball out of control. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Lets just leave it as it is, or shorten trade week to 2 days.

Closely related to the "Every Holes a Goal" theory

... but as my old man once said ....

"A good Pull is better than a bad root" :thumbsu:

By the way Bojanlges ... which "mate" came up with that doozie ?

Certainly was not one of mine

Think you need to be honest with yourself Bo ... we were the blokes who all stood around next to the dance floor , getting blind on schit , watered down beer that tasted like cats p1ss , talking about footy all night , perving hopelessly on the talent on the floor without any real intentions or balls to have a real crack at picking up a "free" one ... then as Harv said , as they switched the lights on and started hearding us into the exits , make a last ditch attempt and anything that was remotely p1ssed as we were ..

Yep ...... sounds exactly like trade week to me :thumbsu:

:p ...yeah, the good ol days, it was disco's trick , along with a couple of others that aren't too far removed from Trade week...the evolution of man..and as you summed it up, thats pretty well how it starts..:p

In my case you know because my wife is going to have a C section but that aside, i know what you mean, what the hell is going on? i hate waiting

i have it from a very reliable source that the polak/tarrant/pick 8/13 trade is done and dusted and will be done tomorrow.

some guy on the drafts and trades board said it is a certainty :D ;)

then again, it might fall through at the last minute due to unforseen events (such as nuclear war, bubonic plague, asteroid strike etc). either way i am right.

it WILL happen, because No one will better a No 8 pick , The woods are holding out for the Polak deal to be done...I suspect they'd rather keep Tarrent than release him for No 13 or worse...Everything is working into our hands beautifully

If so when do we find out? when does trade week finish exactly?
