pick #23 + Swan for T Johnstone
Presti & O'Bree for B Harvey
Shaw for Tivendale
McGough + Nixon for Gilbee

Would prefer to keep Presti, but we need to add pace to midfield. Relying on development from Maxwell, Walker, J Cloke and Hall. Would also consider getting someone like Lamb on the cheap as insurance if Presti is traded.

There are mumorings that the Weagles might be willing to offload some talls like Lynch, Johnson and Hansen for the right deal. Would be worth trying to get Lynch if possible (good form as key defender in 04), but would be risky trading a very good clubman like Tarks for a (off field) loose cannon like Quentin Lynch.

I'll take the first one but I am by no means convinced TJ is ever going to be any better than he has been to date. I want to keep Presti. The others I can take or leave.

Brent Harvey for pick 7 is the best bet to get what we need. I'd love to think we could work a few deals to upgrade our second pick and give up Walker and that upgraded pick to North. Maybe the second round pick, McKee if we pay his salary, Walker and O'Bree to North for Harvey and a 3rd or 4th round pick.

These deals sound reasonable, however I would be very reticent to trade the #7 pick. Would need a top mid in the 19-23 age bracket to deal it as part of a trade.
Doubt Walker has much currency as against his potential. Maybe in another years time that may change.

No way the Dogs will trade a potential blue chip midfielder lke Gilbee for anything less than a proven quality KPP. Gilbee is best kick at the club and is contracted anyway.

We have a few developing midfielder. Didak, Shaw x 2, Mullins, Zane. What we don’t have is pace & skill in a player who can slot into a very good but slow midfield. Harvey is the man IMO to complete a very very good midfield. Pick 7 is anything from Dal Santo to Danny Roach. Hell with pick 3 we got Didak. Who says pick 7 will be any better. Didak will be a good player but he aint Chris Judd and at pick what are the odds of getting anyone remotely close to that?

So long as we are smart I am happy to use that pick. We already have one of the youngest lists. If we didn't I would have a different view. the fact is we don't know what the medium term quality of players we have had for 2 years is yet let alone players we sent scouts to watch a couple of times in an U18 comp. Pick 7 is not that valuable. I'd be more than happy to trade it up to pick 2 or 3 and keep it then but I don't think that is very likely. If we use it for a player like Harvey, improve the ruck, get our forward structure right and have a good year with injuries we are real contenders. Buckley, Burns, Harvey and Licuria as our front line midfielders equates to a 2 year window for a flag and when Buckley and Burns go we need more than just Lica to hold the forte.

It's a double edged sword. He is seen as having potential because he is a big athlete and they are valuable. In two year he will either be worth a very early pick (in which case we wouldn't trade him) or next to nothing. Right now a club like North or the Dog's might be very keen on him. We either risk losing a future gun or take the value that there is now. In a deal for a second round pick and another fringe player for Harvey and a possible pick 7 deal with Melbourne for Bruce I would be very happy with where that would place us in the midfield and with developing talls. I see plenty of potential upside in walker but right now I see a bloke who doesn’t know how to get a kick. Is he Aaron James, Trent Croad or Kouta? One thing I do believe is that we won't get any value from him as a player in 2005.

Agree pick #7 is a risk (especially this year with only 2 or 3 absolute standouts - Griffen, Deludio, Tambling). Also agree we need some pace and skill in midfield and some goal kicking power up forward. B Harvey covers all these bases and must be one of our priorities. Somehow though I would like to secure 2 mids like Boomer and Johnno using the likes of #23, #55, McGough, Shaw, O'Bree and maybe Presti. Maybe this is a pipedream, and we will have to use #7, but it would be nice to have the chance to add a quality youngster like Monfries or Bate to our list as well as T Cloke. We might have a young list, but how many of these youngsters have proven they are of quality?

Walker has every chance of developing into a class player. He needs confidence, from what i've seen him play for williamstown, he sets up play with these booming left foot kicks, for collingwood he seems to be happy to get the ball, but wants to chip it to a midfielder. He showed a bit near the end of year, but if he'd start kicking long, he's value would rise up again.

Shaw for Tivendale, I WISH. Tivendale is a mate of mine, and he was a mad Collingwood supporter when he was young, so was his family. Unfortunately for two things, 1 is he keeps signing bloody contracts at Tigerland, because he is a very loyal player to his club, and 2 he is worth more than Shaw.

can someone please tell me if we know if collingwood are even after harvey coz i love the bloke as a player and hes just wat we need. But all this talk about him r we even talkin to him??
