I think it is a really good idea bindas12. I'd be pretty p_ssed off if Max Bailey jumped ship the first chance he got, given the amount of weeks he's been paid to sit on the couch and watch TV.

Don't think it would fly. Half the available free agents moving any given year would be mature guys who can't get a consistent game in the seniors, whether it be cause they're the 23rd man (e.g. Murphy, Byrnes), perennially injured (e.g. Chris Knights) or just don't get on with the coach (Moloney).

You need to remember that Chris Dawes brings 'signifcant' finals experience to the Demons

The Dawes trade is the most puzzling trade in AFL history, giving him an extra $200k a year is just as puzzling.

I'd certainly rather get pick 20, and a potential replacement, than nothing. Which best 22 Sydney player would leave the reigning premiers to go to Adelaide?

While Adelaide would like to say screw you, and hope somebody picks up Tippett before Sydney, who is going to use a top 20 pick on someone who likely won't sign with them? Since Sydney are offering up pick 20 anyway, they would definitely use that pick on him. Adelaide is in a no-win situation, and quite frankly, unless Sydney decide to up their offer, the best Adelaide can do is to get anything out of the deal.

What's the difference between doing it now, and doing it on the last day? Sydney will not up their offer, why the hell would they? Besides, Adelaide have lost so many KPP's in the last couple of years, i'm not sure they can afford to take any more short term pain.

In the Poker analogy, Adelaide might have been bluffing, but Sydney have pocket aces. Adelaide have no leverage, and no way of getting any. (Note: the deal isn't actually confirmed so they haven't actually done anything yet)

Will get games in the NAB cup and maybe round 1-3. If he plays to his potential, he'll be dropped after round three and delisted at the end of the year.

Personally Adelaide are better off getting Syd's first pick and a late pick in the 60+ area.
