I've set the line on draft and trading board at 6.5 (for the lulz)

I'd be taking unders.

So basically, Dawes, Gunston and Tippet all hold the same value?

What the **** were Melbourne thinking?

It's a bit distorted because of how one club holds more power in 2 of those 3 deals. For instance, Tippet might be worth a top 10 pick on the open market, but because he will only go to Sydney, why would they pay that? Likewise, we probably underpaid for Gunston. Melbourne had to slightly overpay in order to make the deal get done. Collingwood were under no obligation to agree if it didn't suit them.

Another thing that differentiates their value, is that Tippett will be on 750k+, Dawes on 500k (or was it more?), and Gunston likely on 200-300k. That suggests extremely different values.

Will get games in the NAB cup and maybe round 1-3. If he plays to his potential, he'll be dropped after round three and delisted at the end of the year.

Personally Adelaide are better off getting Syd's first pick and a late pick in the 60+ area.

Agree. White was struggling playing in the Swans 2nds FFS. In fact they'd be better off just taking 22.

Not taking David Noble seriously again.

Yes but 500k at Melbourne is very different to 500k at Hawthorn. They have to pay as much of the cap as we do and they aren't exactly littered with stars

I do feel that Tippet has become fairly over rated since trade period though. He wasn't really much better than Gunston as a forward this year. I expect him to dine out on his prelim for quite a while now. Good but not great forward.

Well said, although I would point out that Dawes is getting 500k every year for four years. All the way through having to renew Grimes, Trengove, Frawley et al.

Yeah but it's the same thing with what the team got in return in terms of draft picks. Collingwood were never going to accept a pick in the 40's, whereas Adelaide don't have much choice to accept whatever they are offered for Tippett. As such, it's not really possible to directly compare. I'm sure a team out there would offer a top 10 pick for Tippett, so is he worth the best offer, or the one that is accepted?

If the gods were smiling on Adelaide it would be for Sanderson to make a player out of Jesse White and for Tippett to continue his miserable over-rated existence and for Tippett and Sydney to become the new "Jack Watts" of BF

Thought it would have been heavily front loaded? Otherwise it shows a MASSIVE lack of faith in the current youth if they are already planning to 'overpay' solid players in four years time.

Something needs to happen quick or I will go crazy. I mean we're talking about Chris bloody Dawes and the Melbourne football club. Swap our third round for Sydney's if need be. My sanity is at stake.

Fair point but shows how valuable it is to seek out targets early and stop any bidding wars. As you said, if Tippet and Gunston both did what Dawes did and say "I want to go somewhere in that general direction" then Tip would have gone for a top 10 pick and Gunston probably mid teens.

Can think of one better. The Swans play the Crows in the NAB Cup and Jessie White (the Crows new key position utility) clips Tippett over the ear with a knee in a marking contest. Tippett leaves the field a bit dazed and medical advice during the week confirms that he must take 6 months off footy.

Matt Campbell . . . thoughts? We went after Rhan Hooper a few years ago, but this guy has better hamstrings. I wonder if we would give him a spot ahead of Puopolo in the forward line.

Maybe we can draft Richard Tambling and have them as a mosquito fleet in the forward line with Nathan Carroll supplying the crumbs

They can construct it any way they like. It's still $2m

They could be the 1st team to break the salary cap and not make the 8! Lol

Sadly (funnily? tragically?) enough, they actually do pay close to 100% of the cap. Higher than most clubs - front-load just about everyone.

Wonder why so many of their kids get ahead of themselves, when they're on 6 figures after 10, 20 games?

Yeh that is a bit dissapoining. I wonder who we will be into now

How about this Kid, Koby Stevens from the West coast his looking for a trade, seems like a good fit in our midfield?????

Strong-bodied onballer who could only break into the team for only two games mid-season despite a strong year with WAFL club East Fremantle. A fierce competitor who is strong overhead and excels in winning the contested ball.

Very similar to a Josh kennedy type player!!

May as well give it a try

Koby Stevens kicking is horrendous. We usually place a good deal of importance on kicking skills so unless we see a flaw we could easily fix I would think we wouldn't be too interested?
