For a bloke that cannot string 4 games together , be it because of a strong midfield or not yet good enough, he really shouldn't be asking for a lot of coin.
Anyhow, because he played mainly WAFL I have no idea on him, so wouldn't care if we chased him or not!
Our midfield is better than WCE so how would he get a game?

Koby Stevens kicking is horrendous. We usually place a good deal of importance on kicking skills so unless we see a flaw we could easily fix I would think we wouldn't be too interested?

Agreed. Pass.

If your kicking is poor, you better be able to get the thing like Scott Thomspon or Brad Sewell.

Weller has re-sgined with the Suns, so we won't be getting him for those that were bringing it up earlier.

Assuming of course that the club was interested in him. It was always my bet that if we had another trade in mind it would be for a tall, there are plenty of mids in the draft.

Are we waiting to find out about Clint Young before we do anything else regarding trades, due to salary cap?
Or are we done?

We need one more trade for a good draft pick, at least for a 2nd or 3rd round pick IMO.
Now will a Gilham trade give us that 2nd or 3rd round pick???

Or maybe even a first round pick as his an experienced premiership player, and as Neeld would say:
It was "critical" for a player like Dawes to be picked for the young players to learn from a premiership experienced player!!!!

And we'll still smash them in round 1.
While it may sound counter-intuitive, I tend to believe the more non-geelong players they add to their side the more chance we are of beating them, regardless if those new additions strengthen their team. Am certain our matches with them are won and lost between the ears so the fewer players from the 08GF they have in the side, the less of an effect their 'pact' will have on the result.

Agreed.

It's disappointing to see Geelong smashing trade week. Hawks got Lake which is great, but Geelong have addressed three huge needs in one trade period, and they haven't given up the world either. There seems to be a theme of trades going pretty cheap, Hawks should be amongst it more.

What annoys me about Geelong is that last year the Hawks chased Gillies and they refused to let him go. This year they decide he is surplus to their needs and the guy looks like missing out on playing for anyone. No wonder players chased free agency.

Frustrating yes, but Gillies would not be eligible for Free Agency under the current setup. Id be annoyed if I was a Cats supporter, they could have traded him for a pick last season now they get doughnuts.

Gillies will be a delisted free agent if the Cats give him the flick.

If we still want him, we can then hoover him up for free in November without him going into the National Draft or PSD.

Yer I was aware he is not free agent but the point I was making is that with situations like this arising during your career it was no wonder players were looking at some sort of protection, although in saying that it would appear there are quite a few free agents currently without a club anyway.

I did think SS JP that's what the hawks would do if they were still interested in him.

Hawthorn never chased Gillies, that was a rumour the media started and had no more credibility than anything on this forum. He was struggling at Geelong's VFL side this year so there won't be any interest again. His skill level makes him a liability.

Well thats interesting considering I specifically heard Balme on SEN last year through trade week state that Gillies was a required player and what Hawthorn had offered wasn't a good enough incentive to let him go.

"Hawthorn are interested in Tom Gillies, but he's very much required and a contracted player here," Geelong football manager Neil Balme told Trade Week Radio on Wednesday.

Caddy might be an OK player eventually and shows promise but has not yet delivered. I believe he finished 17th in the Suns B&F in a team full of players his age.

McIntosh is a liability due to his recent run with injuries. Rivers is a handy backman but not capable of holding Buddy or Roughy the way Scarlett could.

They look more like depth players rather than class players

Just a first rounder and second rounder, and I don't know what they're giving up for Rivers yet.

I beg to differ re us not being interested last year. We were, and we made numerous plays at getting the lad.
