You think so big M ?

Mcintosh and Rivers ?..? I wouldn't be getting too excited if they came to Hawthorn .... Box Hill would be rapt though.

+ Caddy

All three will be in their starting 22.

Geelong and Collingwood have smashed this trade period. Adelaide and Melbourne, not so much.

Mcintosh is a very good footballer if fit. He would be in our team ahead of Hale.

Of course they have.........they have filled up two deficiencies in there best side. A Ruckman and another 3rd defender, those two will help there side immensely. Throw in Caddy and they have absolutely nailed it.....Oh they still have pick 16 in the draft.

As for Mcintosh.......he's a better ruckman than Hale when injury free.

Rivers would walk into our back line IMHO if we hadn't traded for Lake. Macintosh is a known quantity for a so-so pick and has the potential to be Brad Ottens-lite. West is a limited player, Vardy is injury prone, Simpson still to be used.

And Caddy rejuvenated the midfield. I'd take that.

If we lose Buddy Franklin next year we too can have some successful trade periods. :p
Just looking at the comments about YOungy, I think we could safely predict that we'd see a few "piss off Buddy you cost us a premiership" threads if he dragged out negotiations for any longer than a couple of weeks.

I don't think much of any of them ... Macintosh is injury prone ... Hale much better value IMO ... Rivers is on a par with Gilham ... and Caddy is unproven ...

Ottens, Scarlett and Ablett they are not.

Mcintosh COULD be a good get, but his ankle and Achilles are shot. It is why he only cost them a 2nd round pick. If he were fit then firstly north would not be letting him go, and if they were, they would be asking for a pick around 10.

Rivers is a homeless mans Scarlett. These are desperate moves.

Hasn't he already considering Evans the habitual liar said we opened re-negotiations weeks ago?

Let's just hope we can get a decent compo for buddy. He clearly wants out.

Have we traded roughy for a 2nd round pick yet?

Cats desperate to win a flag next year by recruiting Rivers and Macintosh..
Rivers is no way near being a fullback and he is average at best and Macintosh is no Better than big Max...
I can't see these guys making a huge difference next year. Also Chapman, Corey, Enright, Bartell, Kelley, Johnson are all getting slow and past their best footy.
Cats should of drafted some young kids to build for the future..
Just proves they still cocky and think they can come out and win the flag next year..

Oh oh my hatred for this mob has shown up once again ...

To be fair, that was a criticism of Brad Hill. Turns out Hill is a ball magnet at AFL level.

Has speed, has reasonable height/size and kicks off both feet. I liked the way he sums up situations quickly on where he can use his pace and I liked the way he drew the defender and gave off the handball.

Very good observation sir!!

Finally someone that can recognise a natural footy smart, silky skilled, young talent!

Some here speak of josh Simpson forgetting that his only 18.

Remember my words people, this kid will be playing AFL footy next year for witch ever team picks him, and his name will be talked about for a long time!!!

I remember watching Shane Crawford at Glenferrie oval play his first game, it took me about 2 or three of his touches in about five minutes of play, to see that he was going to be a star!!

McIntosh is very good around the ground and good up forward, his ruck work specifically is not that great, in terms of his hit-outs to advantage. For what they paid he is a good get. He was going at 2 goals a game when he was playing 50% of the time up forward, Collingwood got those picks for Dawes when he managed 16 goals in 23 games as the full forward...

I hate them too.

But while Rivers is not a full back, Taylor can be one, and then Rivers is very good at playing the floating third defender that Taylor has previously played. I think he will slot into their structure very nicely. As much as I hate them I have to admire their recruiting. Christensen, Menzel, Duncan, Taylor Hunt, Schmedts, Motlop, Murdoch, Guthrie, Vardy and Caddy all are 21 or under, have made their debut in the last three years, shown that they are talented and have a lot of natural improvement in them. They haven't missed in the draft. I think they will be better than they were this year.

If his that good surely he wont last til 27.

They say that Josh Simpson is probably going to be the player that divides opinion the most this year.
Players like him usually slide in the draft, because decisions from clubs are based on expectations, and his a bit of the Unknown unless you've got a real keen eye and are willing to gable on risking a first or even a second round pick!!
Thats way their is talk that he could go anywhere from 15-40 come draft day!!

Well now thats it confirmed Young has gone, Murphy also, with Gilham's departure also imminent.

Our depth has taken a hit which either means we are going to throw the kids in or we have to replace some depth through trade.

Good post i would definitely have to AGREE!!!

Yeah a bit more depth would be nice, but we shouldn't get it through trades. Just pick up delisted players like maybe Rodan or Gillies in the pre-season draft. I guess we could get the players in earlier by doing one or two deals to bring in a player for like pick 110 or something like that.

When was this confirmed???? what have I missed? I check this everyday!!!!

On Geelong... they still have Lonergan and Taylor. Taylor is a great contested mark backman who came in and has never missed a beat for them. Rivers, while I don't rate him that highly, is a courageous and tough 3rd man. Will compliment the backline well.
Don't really rate McIntosh that much. Injuries have ruined his game...
Josh Caddy is unproven... some of the geelong youngsters they discovered this year may turn out better then Josh...

Nevermind... I just saw it... :(

Do you think... that we could possibly get a first rounder instead of the second and third that we would get for Murphy and Young?

Agree. Scarlett was a champion, but an overrated champion in my opinion if that makes sense. I don't think they will miss him as much as people think. Their defensive stocks are established and everyone will just take one step over now that Rivers is there.

In terms of ruckman. I think they have four talented ruckman now. McIntosh, West, Simpson and Vardy have all shown themselves to have either a lot of potential (Vardy, Simpson) or be competent at AFL level (West) or at their best be All-Australian quality (McIntosh). I think the odds are that one or two of these four will be uninjured and in good form at all times. They are playing the percentages I reckon.

No chance.....single picks.

probably 3rd or 4th rounder for Murph

2nd rounder for Young.

As Free Agend Young holds the most currency. He fought back after three years of injury to re-establish himself in Hawthorn's best 22 and play in a Grand Final.
I would say at least a first round pick as compensation!!!!!!!
