Sorry to change topic but the Crows are getting an object the size of the Harbour Bridge shoved up their rectum if they are going to cop a 1st rounder and Jesse White. That is insulting that they would even consider that remotely close to Tippet's value.

They should throw him into the draft. If this trade goes through the swans in my eyes have gone from an irrelevant club that I had no interest in, to a club that would be in my top 3 hated from 2013 onwards.

And to any Swans fans who replies im offended about losing to you in a GF is the reason trust me like i said you were irrelelvant to me and you still are until this trade goes through in this format.

Exactly.....You had a read of my post on the other thread....and acknowledged it. Well done.

Well the way he was hunted by collinwood surly he must be on 400-450 which means as you say a first round pick, for player that at his best is one of those 80-metre players, who carry the ball for two or three bounces then kick it long to the forward line to Cloke.
I can't see another player in the Collinwood side that can do that!

I remember watching Shane Crawford at Glenferrie oval play his first game, it took me about 2 or three of his touches in about five minutes of play, to see that he was going to be a star!!

I remember seeing Crawfs first game debut in the reserves in 1992. He was rotating on and of the interchange bench with Josh Kitchen and they were wearing the numbers 51 and 52. I thought he looked a bit too small to make it when he first ran on but he was as gutsy as they came. I must admit I didn't think he would be as good as he did get from those first glances. If we can find someone like him in the draft then we will strike gold.

I'm taking a random guess at the figures, but judging by Goddards salary.....which is around 800 k a year then it would be anywhere from 450 and above......I highly doubt Young would be on anymore than 380K.

So what if no other player can do that at Collingwood....has absolutely nothing to do with what compensation we will get for him.

If the trading period so far is anything to go by then Hawthorn (Lake), Sydney (Tippett), Geelong (Rivers, McIntosh, Caddy) and Collingwood (Young, Lynch + early draft picks) are the teams that have done best to rectify any weaknesses and as they were all already top sides I would think the gap between the top and the next tier could grow next year.

If collingwood swapped clint for wellingham in their line-up and pay, whom they got pick 17 for - Theres a very good case for a first round compo for him, even before you consider murphy.

once that pick is held, we can add one or two cheapies.

Bugger

Anyone know why Sam Iles was delisted by Gold Coast? Thought he was going well up there.
According to the report on the AFL site - "However, coach Guy McKenna was quick to highlight the defensive deficiencies in Iles' game, and that ultimately cost him his spot."

Get him back to Box Hill, he was good at that level.

Very good point. If Wellingham is worth 17 and Dawes 20 + a bit, then we should be working out the compensation based on what clubs are trading for this year rather than a basic AFL designed model. Clubs know the depth of the draft and the relative worth of individuals therefore.

On that model Young should definitely be worth a pre-pick 30 selection. The fact that he has gotten a sizable 3 year contract will underline that.

100%, looks like the strong are getting stronger.

Whilst Collingwood and Geelong look to have pretty well. I still think the Hawks have done the best, we rectified a huge weakness with Lake. And if Sydney end up getting Tippett, they will have done the same.

Don't like our chances though, but those considerations should be taken into account

Maybe both losses add up to a pick after our first rounder

If the AFL give us a pick in the 40's for Young, after Wellingham and Dawes were traded for picks in the top 20, then the AFL can go forth and multiply itself.

Young is better than Dawes and simlar to Wellingham.

You know it's going to happen, so you may as well prepare yourself.

I think you folks need to add Richmond to the list as well.

Knights would be a good player if he can get over his injuries. Adds to Richmond's midfield rotations and is a dangerous player on the half-forward flank.

However, I don't believe Chaplin is that great of an acquisition by the Tigers. He's not really a key defender no matter how much his tyres are pumped up by the Tigers. He's a bit like Stevie Gilham in that he's a much better third tall defender. Will be interested to see how Hardwick plans on using Chaplin for the next four years.

Melbourne has been the worst player in the free agency-trade period. Byrnes is a bit of a nothing acquisition (brings "premiership experience", I suppose). They've horribly overpaid for Dawes and Hogan is an unknown quantity for them. Paying a second round pick for Viney was a good get for Melbourne.

Knowing a guy who works at Richmond, he told me they got Chaplin so it can free up Rance. So i would assume from that Chaplin will be playing a lockdown role at FB.

As for Melbourne's recruiting, i think they have done well. They have gotten some experienced players to help develop the young kids. Byrnes is still a good player just can't crack it in the cats side and even though they have paid a little over for Dawes, they needed another ready made KPF to help out Clark. Hogan is rated the second best 17yo in the country, that for me is not a toal unknown quality, the kid will be a gun and by the time Dawes is coming to the end of his career Hogan will be ready to replace him

Hogan will be very good.....if he stays. Dawes and Byrnes in for Rivers and Moloney out is just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic, slightly younger but hefty price tag. You would only go to the Dees for money, like Clark last year decided on a detour on the way to Perth when he found he could get $800K there.

Knights and Chaplin are typical Richmond recruits, they are more depth players than stars. Same as Rodan if he returns. Whoever they replace will be like-for-like and not an improvement. Richmond should get in the eight but then again how many times have we said that.

How bad are Adelaide doing though, they are now talking to Angus Graham. Not too many stars volunteer to go to the City of Churches. The Crows should just stick to drafting talent.

Chaplin in a defensive lock down role would see the Tigers plummet down the ladder. If there was a stat for 190cm+ players being outbodied by short people he would be near the top.

Is this the last day for GWS to sign uncontracted players?

There has been no news on that this year. If Gilham is going to GWS, which has been mentioned, will that also be announced today?
