I would think the club will make all delistings official with the first list lodgement, until then keep them listed in case of a hail mary trade.

Why did Brandon Lee get delisted? He was quite good in his only 2 games that he played. Or did the reduced rookie system have something to do with him being delisted? Was surprised to see him cut be to be honest.
From what I've been told, would be around 100% next year if it weren't for the reduced numbers. Of our 6 rookies this year, only Anthony Long didn't do enough to deserve another year.
I wouldn't be surprised if Lee bobbed up somewhere else.
Can this be done - I always knew a player could be elevated from the Rookie List to the Primary List - but was unaware it could go the other way. Thank you for clearing this up.
You can't do it directly. Have to delist and hope they last through to your rookie pick.

It has happened before.

There is always a chance another club may pick him in the draft, but this is rare. Clubs then choose their own players back with a rookie pick.

We did it with Garry Moss. Saints did it with McQualter, Roos with Urquhart...it's happened a few times.

No clearing up, just taking a wild guess. LOL
I am an American but was raised in Australia between the ages 7 - 18 years of age, played two seasons of under 19's for Richmond in the mid 80's (unfortunately :)), but ultimately decided to pursue my sporting (basketball), college and grad school university life here the States. I married an Aussie girl and have lived back in Australia for work for 10 years between 26 and 36, but despite being a hybrid Yaussie (Yank/Aussie) my thinking these days is far too literal and completely lacks the ability to detect good old Aussie bullshit between mates. Please forgive my stupidity.

Gilham and 27 to GWS for pick 14? Must be getting a little close to the ball park? Pick 21 might have been closer to getting it done. Nice simple theory but unlikely.

Delistments have been published on the Hawthorn website.

I would jump at the chance for pick 14 in exchange for Gilham and 27.
I think a more likely scenario (given he has been linked to GCS) would be something along the lines of:

HAW: Gilham + Pick 28 in exchange for GCS Pick 26 + Pick 47
Effectively a 3rd rounder. Gilham could walk at the end of the year knowing lake has effectively taken his spot.

Yep agree. I think that's about right bunky.

Gilham and 27 for 14 is completely unrealistic.

Isn't that basically Gilham for pick 47? Wouldn't GCS rather just do that?

I know this, what I'm suggesting is that the reason we haven't lodge the paperwork is that we are waiting to see where the list is at come the end of tradeweek, since the first list lodgement is due Oct 31.

We haven't lodged paperwork for Boumann (http://www.afl.com.au/retirements delistings/tabid/13717/default.aspx) so it seems a few here are expecting him still to be a hawk next year, I'm suggesting that it's highly unlikely even if his photo hasn't been taken down from the website yet

Interesting. I'll note that in the list changes thread.

Totally off topic, but I find it totally out of line that he would actually name the player.

Tbh it's getting quite depressing reading this thread as it seems there is not much waiting in the wings and our picks in the draft aren't going to help unless we fluke a gem in the rough.

You mean Mick Malthouse naming Brad Dick? He was wrapping him up, saying how he never met anyone so determined in his time in football.

The Club's already announced Boumann is gone so can't see a u-turn on that.

Surely with Port just grabbing a young key defender, Gilham won't find a new home during trade week either.

I was under the impression that the Suns were keen on Gilham.

Mick Malthouse recently gave a lecture at my university where he talked about Brad Dick, who couldn't read or write and therefore couldn't understand anything on the whiteboard when he first came to Collingwood. He did a quick course and got some competency. Anyway, its not unprecedented. I don't think it is an insurmountable problem though. Think of all the soccer players around the world playing in teams where different players speak different languages.
I got a mate of a mate (yeah i know) who knows Amos. Said he has no problems communicating etc.
Great to hear, thanks fellas :thumbsu:

This from the "ever reliable" Football Nation.
UPDATE: 23/10/12 – HAWTHORN has been linked with delisted Port Adelaide star David Rodan, who may join the Hawks in the national draft if he isn’t taken beforehand.
It is said that Richmond, his former club, is also keen on Rodan.
The Hawks are keen on adding another established star to the mix as they contend for another flag.

Gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
