Melbourne is open to trading its pick 3.
The Demons were bumped down the draft order by one spot earlier this week when the AFL announced the Gold Coast Suns would be handed the top two selections in the draft.
Demons list boss Josh Mahoney said pick 3 was on the table, for the right deal.
“The recruiters have been at the (draft) combine. They are really excited at what the top end of the draft looks like,” he told SEN.
“We haven’t had a first round pick that we’ve taken to the draft now for three years. Right now, we think there is some real good talent at pick 3.
“But we also know that the top 10 is quality players in there as well. There are some discussions around movement in the top 10. If we go to the draft with pick 3 we will be really happy.
“If there is a deal available to us that involves two picks inside the top 10 then that is something we would look at as well.”

They won't get two top tens.
GWS will be talking, but they may come to us. Melbourne wouldn't take Green, but Sydney would.
GWS would want to get in before Sydney. Grab Green, get someone else with a 2nd.

There's still two first round picks to use to draft for pace, plus you've got top shelf local talent in Hately.
Only Hately if he is coming cheap. Both Crouch’s will be in their next year. I don’t buy in the talk Brad is going. Waiting on new coach to discuss his contract extension.

While GCS are busy undermining the integrity of the AFL draft in order to get a couple of vic metro kids that are going to leave them anyway.....
I’d love us to grab pick 3 off of Melbourne and grab Gippsland pair Flanders and Serong with 3 and 4. I’m sure GWS will be supportive in any way they can to ensure no bid on Green.
It doesn’t seem completely out of the realms of possibility to turn either Brad Crouch or a combination of Keath/Greenwood/Laird/JJ/Betts into the picks that Melbourne would accept.
