I had the pleasure of heading down to training this afternoon
There was quite a large group doing light work, mainly handball drills. This consisted of Bode, Vince, Biglands, Hentschel, Griffin, Maric, Johncock, MacKay, Archard, Bock, Porplyzia, Rutten, Thompson, van Berlo and Ricciuto (yes, I did say large). Ricciuto was wearing his guernsey, but took no part in the session with the main group. Most of these guys headed back into the rooms failry early but Tippett, Biglands, Bode, Hentschel and Porplyzia stayed out doing some other work.
When the main group were out warming up Sellar, Meesen and Hudson were working with a coach doing some ruck drills. Tippett and Biglands later joined them.
Bode, Hentschel and Porplyzia were busy doing some jogging and sprints. Hentschel was doing quite well, sprinting along one side of the ground, however you could tell he was favouring his right leg a bit.
The first main drill was quite interesting. Down our end, the ball would be kicked deep into the 50 to start, where a mark was taken followed by a handball to the passing player, who then kicked to a lead created outside the 50, next, the player either looked inboard or passed to a player running hard on the wing, who then passed it into the forward line. The forward line consisted of Perrie, Welsh, Gill and Burton were working as forwards and McGregor and Jericho were defending, although Jericho was swictched between both groups.
The next drill focused on pressure and tight handballs. There were two main groups, which were then split into two, one white, the other normal. The goal was to get the ball to the opposing line without losing it. Neil Craig was shouting, 'Keep the movement' and generally it was good to watch.
The last main drill was more of a game style situation. Down our end in white defending were Massie, Stevens, McLeod and Torney. The attackers were Meesen (manned up with Stevens), Sellar (manned up with Massie) and Jericho (manned up with Torney). McLeod was playing as the spare man. In the centre of the ground were Mattner, Douglas, Campbell, Doughty, Shirley, Goodwin, Reilly and Edwards. They were switching between white tops. Down the far end of the ground defending in white was McGregor, Hinge, Pfieffer and Hudson. Attacking were Knights, Welsh, Perrie, Burton and Gill.
So yeah, thats basically it. At the end they broke off into groups and worked on various things.
