Todays training was another shorter 2 hour session with the players with 8 years service on a break.
Overall the session was a fairly sharp one with most players showing good signs by foot and hand.
The restricted group was bigger today with Porps, Maric and VB who stayed out on the track doing laps most of the session. Hendo, Bernie, Donelley, L Thompson, Martin and Moran were also in the group early on but dissapeared in the club rooms shortly into the session.
Tippo was in the main group but he also dissapeared during the training. I however didn't see him leave the track so not sure if there is an issue or not.
Youngy was back in full training which was good to see.
Otto was out on the track but only with paper in hand. I assume he was taking notes for the coaching staff.
A couple of things I noticed the players trying to do is move the ball very fast with precision skills. In one drill Craigy was standing close to a player who would mark in a back pocket from a ball delivered from the goal square and then kick long to a team mate on the wing. Craigy would constantly call for that player to 'take and carry' by marking it and quickly turn around, run about 10 metres and straighten up with a long kick down the line to a running team mate who would then turn and centre it in the middle.
Gunner impressed me a few times today playing mainly as a leading 3rd tall forward. In a mini scratch match he was lined up on Sellar and he took a very good strong mark, fully stretched and with Sellsy all over him.
Patty Dangerfield once again showed why he will be a star. In one drill he had both Cooky and Shawy hanging off him but he still managed to break both grips and dish out a handball. He still remained on his feet while the 2 tacklers were on the ground.
Phil Davis looks to be slow out on the track but he is very smart and creates time for himself. He showed this by sidestepping small blokes who attemp to tackle him.
Danger and Pup in particular were once again very voiceful out there. Pup would even try to shout out advice to team mates 100 metres away
.
VB and Ivan were also full of praise to any player that done something good as they would run by.
