Todays training was another shorter 2 hour session with the players with 8 years service on a break.

Overall the session was a fairly sharp one with most players showing good signs by foot and hand.

The restricted group was bigger today with Porps, Maric and VB who stayed out on the track doing laps most of the session. Hendo, Bernie, Donelley, L Thompson, Martin and Moran were also in the group early on but dissapeared in the club rooms shortly into the session.
Tippo was in the main group but he also dissapeared during the training. I however didn't see him leave the track so not sure if there is an issue or not.
Youngy was back in full training which was good to see.
Otto was out on the track but only with paper in hand. I assume he was taking notes for the coaching staff.

A couple of things I noticed the players trying to do is move the ball very fast with precision skills. In one drill Craigy was standing close to a player who would mark in a back pocket from a ball delivered from the goal square and then kick long to a team mate on the wing. Craigy would constantly call for that player to 'take and carry' by marking it and quickly turn around, run about 10 metres and straighten up with a long kick down the line to a running team mate who would then turn and centre it in the middle.

Gunner impressed me a few times today playing mainly as a leading 3rd tall forward. In a mini scratch match he was lined up on Sellar and he took a very good strong mark, fully stretched and with Sellsy all over him.

Patty Dangerfield once again showed why he will be a star. In one drill he had both Cooky and Shawy hanging off him but he still managed to break both grips and dish out a handball. He still remained on his feet while the 2 tacklers were on the ground.

Phil Davis looks to be slow out on the track but he is very smart and creates time for himself. He showed this by sidestepping small blokes who attemp to tackle him.

Danger and Pup in particular were once again very voiceful out there. Pup would even try to shout out advice to team mates 100 metres away :thumbsu:.
VB and Ivan were also full of praise to any player that done something good as they would run by.

I rated him the best from the video we were able to view of our recruits at draft time. Remind me a lot of Ryan O'Keefe. His height to weight ratio will naturally develop. But he moves very efficiently with a great above his eyes mark.

Saw the photos on the website... Sellar looks to be quite a bit larger compared to last year.

From what I've heard we're just nursing Bernie through because he has put the hard yards in already. Same with the Tipster. Good to see, them being critical to our chances this year and all.

Nice work there chief Crow - many thanks. :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Chris Knights was on 5AA this afternoon - see link to the interview below which was typical Knights. Full of class.

In that interview he gives Gunston a good wrap for the very thing you've quoted above. :thumbsu:

Thanks Macca for posting the interview and thanks to all who provide interviews and also the write ups from training. Just letting you know they are greatly appreciated and not taken for granted!:):thumbsu:

Yes, thanks for the report Chief and the interview link m23 :thumbsu: They were a wonderful diversion in a hard day last night :)

Glad to hear Gunston is getting involved as a third tall. He's the right height for it but I was wondering if they were going to use him more as a winger or something since he's not very bulked up at the moment, but for my money he needs to make it as a third tall so the sooner he gets practice there (against a damn big body in Sellar no less!) the better.

I can't wait to see Danger run around this year. I've had the Adelaide Football Club 2009 Yearbook for a while (I think someone gave it to me for Christmas) but never got around to reading it until recently, and the article about Dangerfield (winning the Mark Bickley Award) made comment about how his preseason was indifferent and he was unfit, yet he still managed to make a bit impact on the season. How good is he going to be this season? If he manages to provide what I'm expecting to see he could well end up my favourite non-Sloane Crow by the end of the season :p
