This should be a very interesting session, who is heading down?
What time does it start?
How hard of a training session do you think it will be?
Most importantly, will they play the kicking the ball into the ass game with the bad boys?

:)

I imagine the whole squad will get called in and read the riot act from sticks and swanny.

Depending on what punishment hoops, eddie and walker recieve you would expect all the lads to be training their arse off.

I reckon hoops will get 4 weeks, eddie and walks 2-3 weeks each.

I was going to head down but Monday is a big NoNo at this stage! Massive NFL day for mine and hopefully it will be on Tuesday or later in the week and i will make the trip down for a bit of a Captain Cook! :thumbsu:

Hold on a cotton picking second.

Hoops didn't get arrested gets twice as much as a player with a history of alcohol problems and who GOT arrested?

If the club does it like that then they ought to be burnt.

Betts should get the worst punishment by far. His transgression was the worst as it resulted in legal action.

Hoops organised the boat trip, was caught in his underwear and was accosted for it by security that led to the ejection of Walker for attempting to help him and most importantly is supposed to be a senior player. I'd have him out for 6 weeks. It is extremly harsh but an example needs to be set and I think it is appropriate for the crime

Betts was arrested for drunk and disorderly which is stupid, but did nothing else 2-3 weeks.

Walker's case depends on what the club believes happened. If he was in the wrong he should get a similiar punishment to Betts. If he wasn't then he might get off light 1 week-3 weeks.

In addition all need a very strong addressing in front of the playing group and in private afterwards.

The entire group should be put through their paces seriously as punishment for the undisciplined nature of the cruise.

Betts transgression resulted in detainment for a short period and a $234 fine. He needs to be pulled into line definatly and needs counseling over his alcahol consumption but to excessivly punish him would not result in an improvement. By contrast Hoops actions resulted in a large portion of our woes and as a senior player needs to be more severly accosted. He was and is responsible for the cruise as well as the events at Crown.

I have a real soft spot for Carlton since Hadley, and now Henderson, have ended up down there (for God's sake don't let anyone on the Lions board know :D )

I reckon the boys are going to get absolutely flogged on the first training session of the year. I reckon it will be on Monday since Sticks and Ratts made such a song and dance of reading them the riot act when they return on 4 January - it would be a dent in the club's credibility to not show some sort of punishment session after all the attention the booze cruise incident received.

For mine, I hope they get flogged to within an inch of their lives on the track; learn from it; and move on. No-one likes to see any club languishing like this.

I have wondered since Eddie got picked up by the police for being drunk in a public place whether he would've been arrested had he been a white fella!! I am cynical enough to believe that some racism still exists in our community - we might never have known if Eddie had just got home and into bed [which is where most of the other players probably got to]. This post doesn't support an elite athlete over consuming - but the outcomes for Eddie now could be career threatening. Those who got to bed 'safely' are not under threat at all!

Perhaps the club needs to be called to account for allowing such a boozy boat event to take place.

I'll be at training taking notes to reword and sell to the Herald Sun. :)

Don't worry about rewording them, the Hun will do it for you. In fact by the time they have finished with it the only resemblance to what you have written will be the date of the training session & the players' names.

Hopefully the session can be called "Get over the last Two Weeks": I think we all need to.
Our Great and Exalted Leader should have determined the punishments, which should be dealt out in private, as should the little 'alcohol' chat that is required.
Then we should get on with our footy and make as many positive things come up as possible. Enough of the doom and gloom; all systems forward into 2010!

I would really like to see the papers feel it can dop nothing but publish good stuff about us. I'm tired of only reading bad news. Essendon seems to get puff pieces every 2nd day when they have done nothing of significance, no matter what the paper. I want to see us get that treatment.

Given they were all on the boat p1ssed you can't just single out blokes. They'll get the riot act and told what happens if that carries over and interferes with the playing side in no uncertain terms....suspensions at worst. We started that ball rolling in Round 22 last year and then later by trading Fev, so they know we're not bluffing.

Houlihan and Walker tried at least by booking are room, pity about Houlihan's argument with his girlfriend. In Eddie's case that could've been anyone of our team. Sitting in the lock-up drying out after a Xmas party isn't a real great crime. Hasn't interfered with his footy unlike before round 22 last year.

That's ok, I only know the players as Tall Guy, Beardface, etc.

They won't have a clue.

You've got that right. Except for the commentators who call the games, much of the media can't tell one player from another.

A few years ago I was at training & the Channel 9 crew were doing some filming. I hadn't been there long & suddenly I had a couple of the Channel 9 people asking me to identify some of our players. I had pointed out a couple when Colin Kinnear walks past & tells me not to identify the players because it is the job of the media to know the players.

This is a very good point. I hope the club do this confidentially & tell the media the matter has been dealt with & no further comment will be made. The last thing we want to see is certain sections of the media running a debate on whether our club has dealt with the players sufficiently. This could lead to several days of muck-raking by the media.

God help anyone who comes back with bad skin-folds. Especially Eddie.

Well Sticks said he would sort them out when he got his hands on them
Lets see what that entails
40'c here in Perth
Beach sprints to start would be good.

Only going to be 27 degrees here tomorrrow Guns. I do agree with MS though, the temptation will be to give them a tough session out on the track, however the fitness guys will have each players program mapped out to get them to round 1 in the best shape they can be. I'm sure we'll hear about it tomorrow night on the news.
