It's still an awful place to play and watch football, despite all the gilding the lilly the media and Geelong fans say about it.

Training Report

Good to see a couple of hundred people down at training today giving the boys some support at the open training session. The Big Footy crew opted to stand along the fence line at the north west side of the ground away from the madding crowd.

The first thing we noticed was that Fremantle Oval had been marked out to be the same dimensions as Kardinya Park. Great work Grounds Keeper Willie.

On light duties were Jack Hannath, Max Duffy, Michael Johnson, Luke McPharlin, Sonny Walters, Hayden Crozier and Alex Silvagni.

In full training was Nick Suban, Stephen Hill, Chris Mayne, Matthew Pavlich, Hayden Ballantyne and the rest of the regular team.

Not sighted was Garrick Ibbotson and Sam Menegola was in the gym.

The boys did very little today as it was an open session for the fans and media.

Points of interest.

Luke McPharlin left training early and did not return. Michael Johnson had his right calf bandaged and only did light running. Sonny Walters took it real easy and had his right knee strapped.

Isn't Skilled the most similar in dimensions to Subi though? The toughest thing about the venue is the crosswind blowing at cyclone level ferocity.

At least the forecast is for 15-20km winds (not much) and chance of shower - pretty reasonable really.

In your opinion do you think Luke Mac and Sonny will play?

Lyon confirmed Ibbotson is out, McPharlin still has to "jump some hoops" #freofinalsfever #aflcatsfreo
Only speculation but I'm thinking L-Mac will play. Correct me if im wrong, however over the weekend wasn't Ross saying that "we're confident that he will be available for selection" as in, it will be a match committee decision as too whether we bring him straight back after being out for so long. Now, Ross is saying that if he gets through training on Thursday he plays - sounds like the match committee has decided.

Sonny remains concerning - did he get out of first gear at training last week? I missed the Port game, how did he look when he came back on?

From memory he was fine when he came back on.

The other question is how much Ducks and Drakes are they going to play this week. ? I don't think anyone will know who is playing until Fri. Wouldn't surprise me if Mj is fine but they bandage him up to put the thought into Chris Scott's head. I think this will be Ross's most strategical game ever !! Well that's certainly what I hope, because no Ibbo, Clancee, Lmac, johnno and Sonny would suck some serious balls.

that is crap about ibbo, i think one of our biggest advantages over other teams this year was the number of half back flankers that could set up play from the back half. other teams have relied on one or two and thus been easier to shut down. seems we are being brought back to the pack with ibbo and pearce out.

I stayed a little longer than the rest of the watchers and Sonny came out and did a long seaching sprint and rehab session and from what I saw looked spot on
Johnno also had a run but mainly end to end run throughs.I asked if he was injured and he said nah just a little sore so make of that what you will

Did Luke re-emerge at all Salim?

Normally the Tues session is quite light isn't it guys? So maybe no need to take way too much from it. I know it's finals but I get the feeling Ross is going to wait until Thursday to have an amazing training session; as harry says we'll find out on Thursday but I think Macca, Walters, Johnno, Hill and Subes will all be fine.

I'm less convinced about Ibbo though.

EDIT: Just read that Hill and Suban trained with the full-group so they should definitely be fine!

To quote Ross Lyon, "you are spot on". My only concern is our backline with injuries to Johnson, Ibbo, Luke and Clanger.
