Says down the bottom that he is studying to become a Sports Journalist! Better than 90% of them already! Nice work Spitta2Azza
Umm, from what I read, a 'sports journalist' is what you become once you've abandoned studies...

At the end of Year 8...

Hows the big Fritzel going guys? Was so disappointed we didn't give him the opportunity he deserves and I really think he will strive under you guys? Where do you guys see him playing this year? Is he a replacement for Hale?

Cheers.

I was there. Training started under a nice cloud which kept the temp down. Mitch an obvious absentee but everyone else seemed to be there. It's a bit hard to tell who is who from a distance, under caps etc. Langers boxed on from the sidelines while Shiels, Woody, Gibbo and Burgers ran laps. Spang trained lightly. Hodgey was quite vocal while the main group trained in the centre. Hartung and Hill aren't lacking for pace. More laps for Shiels, Gunston and a couple of the new players. I left when they finished around 10:30 am. Later caught up with Woody. It was great to see him on his feet again.

There were maybe a couple of hundred fans, lots of kids, which is great. I was happy to be wearing long sleeves.

I got a great parking spot too !

Previous Axeman post seemed to suggest he was getting beaten by Pittonet who himself is down the ruck chain. But early days

Mitchell will be a fantastic coach - speaks with great thought and intelligence about the game. Can't ever see Hodge being a head coach, and I am always dubious about former great players becoming coaches - but I would have Mitchell on board as an assistant under Clarko with a view to him taking over should Clarko deem him the right choice.

Most of us see him as backup for Ceglar at this stage.

But it's up to him, I suppose...

I see it the other way around, think Hodge would make a great coach but not so sure about Sam. I reckon Sam should go into administration, take Gil's job and sort everything out :thumbsu:

No offence to Hodgey - while he is a great leader, he doesn't have the footy brain that Mitchell does. Just watch any of the grand final recalls - the way Sam reads the game is brilliant. No great surprise that he is doing coaching courses as we speak - wouldn't be at all shocked if that has been encouraged from above.
