Would love to be able to read about training updates instead of wading through pages of shit that we already have a dedicated thread for...
It’s a tough job chomping at the piebeast

did Allan train as an inside mid ?
Seems like with Andersen out he probably stays in there

No Darcy Cameron it’s very likely his missus might be ready for baby
No hill. Josh D, and the injured reef, Steene, Jamie, Moore

Perryman still doing running, more likely for next week

Hayes did some running
Doesn’t appear he’ll have surgery.
Thanks for your update. I have been wanting more news. Dual footed. Just one arm. 🙁 I hope Hayes is not too restricted. His shoulder was described as going back in. I was pleased he is not inactive. Any more games this year for Hayes are gold.

Observations from Tuesday's session:A sky shrouded in grey clouds was evident as the players filtered out today around nine. Later the sun penetrated and blue sky and warmth were the dominant weather markers.

Who was missing today? Reef, Steene, Elliott, Hill, Moore and Josh Daicos. Cameron was also missing but luckily a few of us had the pleasure of his down-to-earth father’s company who informed us that Darcy had likely gone to hospital with his wife to witness the imminent birth of his daughter.

Was anyone in rehab? Hayes, Cochran and Perryman were the main in-patients but Pendles coming off the ultimate capstone of his career began in the infirmary and undertook a lot of running with Hayes but later he participated in a few drills. Likewise Harry also completed some drills as he moves closer to being fully integrated back into training and a return to the team.

Warming up? Today resistance tape was attached to the fence in front of the pavilion and players made use of this but also completed more stretching with this on the outer side of the ground. Again there were a few different groups for this phase of the session with the youngest of the cohort predominantly training together and the rest limbering up on the outer wing and two separate groups of the older players receiving their instructions from the various trainers. Therein followed some short sprints and kicking drills in close formations. There were quite a few different activities related to fundamentals in which larger groups cleaved so that half wore black tops and the test coloured vests and a segment dedicated to whole ground ball movement with lots of overlapping and emphasis on kicking skills..

Players then were arranged in lines for some tackling practice and when they raced to the Glasshouse side for some welcome rehydration, heat maps from the last match were displayed on the scoreboard. Obviously after some analytical commentary from the coaches regarding the feedback given by the said maps, the players formed a tight group and ululated as if sending a war cry into the wild and then broke enthusiastically to speed towards the next item on the training agenda for the day. This was pseudo match simulation with orange vests opposed to black tops in a mix of AFL and VFL players with players contesting both aerially and on the ground but no formal scoring process involved. Roughead made up the numbers during this segment.

Shortly after all the players gathered around Crisp as he fired for goal with the cacophony of sound generated by his teammates urging him to split the sticks due to the troubles he’s having with nailing his hundredth goal. Following this there was some sporadic work with line groups and goalkicking.

Some general observations:

Saxena is bigger up close than he looks on the field and in fact he’s bulkier than Hill for those thinking his size may preclude any call-ups to AFL action.

Prindable is obviously a bit behind fitness wise and he needs some intensive work in the gym pre-season to streamline his physique, but there’s no doubting his dual-sided skills.

Was interesting and perhaps surprising, to see Hayes on the arena but some talk by onlookers that once a the shoulder pops out it’s liable to doing so again with reference for example to Hawthorn making the hard decision in a similar vein in respect of Will Day earlier this year

With Cameron missing, the only ruck was Smit who did take a good grab at one point during the quasi matchplay so fans were busily discussing who we might be able to snare in this evening’s mid-season draft

JDG and Nick both began training in tracksuit tops presaging what we will see more of soon now that we’re well and truly into the shadows of winter - Howe sported a beanie

With Pendles not partaking of much of the drill work, it may be a pointer perhaps to another rest given that the Bulldogs match is on the concrete surface at Marvel.

Regarding Josh’s absence, we’ve all noted that he’s been wearing a bandage on his arm for weeks but his kicking efficiency appears to have declined alarmingly, so maybe he is resting a few niggles.
Thursday’s main session will be instructive in terms of who might replace the minimum three changes we will be making. An idea of playing Sidey as a small forward to take Jamie’s role was posited which seems plausible given his knack for reading packs and snapping goals and by dint of the fact that he seems to be the only ‘oldie’ who hasn’t been rested yet.
Of course there may be some possibility that someone selected tonight might find himself in the team for Saturday night.

Any signs of a swaddling debut Jen?
It’s not the session for that. If that’s this week then Thurs main session would be the indicator

No Hill, again. How disappointing.

We've been decimated by injury and Bobby still can't find it within him to get down to the Club and train hard in a bid to win senior selection and help the Club that has been so good to him. Especially at a time such as this, where we so desperately need all hands on deck.

In what other workplace can an employee be on full pay and so blatantly not fulfilling the required duties? And everyone else has to tip-toe around the matter out of fear of causing offence?

Surely there comes a point where the Club says "either attend training fully and make yourself available for senior selection, or your contract will be voided on non-performance grounds"?

To make so many assumptions so confidently is impressive

Why, what's your take on it? Do, you find it an acceptable situation? It has gone on for well over a year, with no sign of resolution.

Bobby Hill is a highly paid professional sportsman. Accepting the big pay-cheque also means accepting certain obligations to the club and to teammates. From afar he doesn't seem remotely close to meeting those obligations.

Not playing is one thing. Not attending training with any regularity (and consequently losing further conditioning) is another. Training should be a safe space for Bobby and, as a pro athlete, he should be jumping out of his skin to train, because its the path back to doing what he does best.

If he no longer wants to (or can't) be a professional footballer then reach a settlement with the club and end the circus by retiring.

I’m not going to pretend to know enough to make judgements about what is “acceptable”

In a normal workplace, the employee would exhaust all sick and personal leave and if still unable/unwilling to work, would then either move to unpaid leave (with agreement of employer), resign, or be fired. I don't think that's unreasonable in the AFL, too.

Take that up with the AFLPA. For the time being, maybe deal with the reality of the situation
