Only out there for an hour and a half. Bloody hot.
Hill not sighted today.
Roberton had the boots in and was doing some running
Morabito has the brace off and is in the bike
Barlow doing some light running and a little kicking. He looks good
Overall skills were VERY sloppy. Missed kicks, fluffed handbells and dropped marks meant lots of Harvey head shaking.

Impressed again by Michie and Faulks. Faults is pretty quick with reasonable skills...looks awkward though.
Pitt's kicking is a joy. 1 sensational left footer across the ground to a guy on the run.
Palmer very scratchy.
Sibo has both shins strapped and is doing very light training.
Suban was doing a lot of work in the back half of the drills and seems to have gained a yard of pace.
Chricton seems to be shaping as the link man going from mid to forward.

Anyone know if any training on Thursday? If so what time roughly?

Also - how did Walters go?

Maybe just a bad day.
I think they are trying to get Chrighton, Bolly and Fyfe all into that link up & deliver role. All the kids with good kicks and good brains. I figure if other teams are concentrating on stopping Hill they go to plan B and give it to Bolly or Chrighton with the pace and penetrating kick. Fyfe will be the genius of them all!
I wonder if there is any chance of Mora coming back this year toward September? Or is an ACL just an automatic 12 months out no matter what?

I thought Walters was fantastic at training today...mind you I was focusing on him and Balla a bit more than the others.
Walters kicking is brilliant and his general positioning ,nous and evasive skills were spot on .
Ballantyne looked great when in the main group and was moving very freely

If you assume Balla, Walters, Mayne are certainties, who are the rest of the front 6?
DeBoer, Pav, Johnson? Anthony, Keps? Fyfe?

deboer as the centerman (not as a tagger)
pav CHF
Johnson, roaming defender/forward
anthony full forward
kepler probably wafl bound
fyfe rover changing half forward

balla anthony walters
deboer pav mayne
i would have fyfe on the wing, perfect place for the link man and johnson hbf is a better position for him.
with balla ,deboer and mayne it's going to be hard for teams to get it out off there.
with barlow running and kicking is there time for him to be the round 1 sub?

Cheers for all the reports guys. I keep hearing rumours that Hill ain't gonna be ready for round 1. Hope their not right, but at least it looks like Ballantyne is finally over the foot issues. :thumbsu:

Was against Hawks in Tassie when we left all the guns at home - round 21 wasn't it.

Yep went in after a loose ball knowing he was going to get crunched and he did by Campbell Brown. Knee just went from the shift in momentum. His play was pure courage though and the players acknowledged that before they realised he had done his knee.

After two knees he will not be rushed back at all, this is pretty much his last shot at AFL footy.

Was precise on Monday as well.

I'm hoping Lower's NAB cup effort was due to trying too hard and/or early season rustiness considering it was our first 'practice match.'

As Clay said, his kicking actually looked fantastic off the boot until you realised where he had kicked it. There's been plenty of reports of precision kicking at training though, so fingers crossed.

Gee I hope forward pressure is equal to goals kicked because these guy's are first rate at the pressure game but shizen at putting through the big sticks.

I like that forwardline. Anthony, Pav, Walters are all dead-eye dicks. Pressure is going to be paramount this season. Sustained forward pressure with the limited rotations is going to be tough to achieve. The shorter more mobile forward lines are essential. Anthony + Mayne both play fairly tall and can be used as targets.

If we want to throw a big man target down there i can see Sandilands resting at FF instead of on the bench.

It's possible though that Johnson replace Walters in that forwardline to give us a 2nd ruck. If Johnson replaces DeBoer i can't see us providing enough pressure up forward and getting rebounded against quite easily.

Johnson can replace Anthony if worried about losing forward pressure from one of the smalls. I'm worried about playing too tall, and don't know if we should play Anthony and Johnson in the same side. But they obviously recruited Anthony for a reason, and last year would suggest Johnson is the backup ruckman ... so I guess they are going to have to make it work with both of them in the side.

Anthony and Johnson will be in the starting 22. Book it.

Anthony at FF and Johnson plays everywhere. Pretty simple IMO.

We NEED another reliable set shot for Goal other than Pav. Anthony is that player.
