Perhaps those of who can get to training on a regular basis can offer input, but I have noticed that we seem to keep to the same training schedule (out on the track) week in, week out, regardless of game time.

For example, we trained on the Friday before our first two Sunday games, as our last session which was 48 hours prior to the game.

Last week, again we had Wednesday the big session with Friday the last session, however this session was roughly 24 hours before the Saturday afternoon game.

I would have thought this area would be tailored a lot more to the game. I think we two good skills sessions are needed in a week, so this week for example I would have thought the track sessions would be Tues and Thurs.

Obviously a Friday night game would force a change to this, but we havnt had one yet this year obviously.

Thoughts?

It does make sense what you are saying but I would hope that our coaches and training staff know the needs of the players to get the best out of them.

it also has do to with when we played our game the prior round. the first two rounds we had sunday games so they can't start full training too early in the week

Wednesday main training will always be the same the last session before the game may be a bit more flexible..but the day before would be too close for mind..

No doubt, just an observation thats all. I know we have a much more professional and scientific crew at the club helping Quinn, so perhaps there is some method behind this?

Yep for sure. However, I would have thought for recovery/preparation, the days immediatly following and before games would be most important, and one should try to be as consistant as possible from week to week. Going from resting a day before the game one week, to training the day before doesnt make much sense to me.

However, I cant get along to training much at all, and I havnt really followed it closely in previous years, but just going thru training reports at BB it was just curious to me.

FWIW, I think we looked a lot sharper in the two games with a day off before the game, as opposed to Saturday, whereby even tho we dominated early, we were not as sharp as we could have been. We could have really made a mess of that scoreboard.

But, then again, Im sure there are times when the opposite will occur.

Having played footy for years, right up through senior footy, I cant remember ever really training the day before a game. It was always a no-no.

In previous years how has our training changed for Fri night games, anyone remember?

i don't think our training had anything to do with the result

we started like a house on fire and in the last quarter we played some good footy.

the reason we lost is that we turned the switch off.

The training reports we have put up on BB have mainly been for the most interseting days. The boys are actually at the club 6 days a week doing various things and some days there isnt really much to report on.;)
