Well you are just using 3 years. Our spending was quite modest for the few years prior thanks to the Glazers. If we hadn't spent so poorly last year then it wouldn't be an issue. I would have liked a cb but United had significant deficiencies elsewhere which have been fixed. I was happy with this seasons spend, not for the last few years tho. 1 more window should have the team back in contention. As you have discovered with Suarez leaving and United had with RVP a few years ago, that one worldly striker can make up for deficiencies elsewhere. It hasn't worked out thus far and u are correct in that few clubs can afford that kind of punt but it's Falcao. If he gets himself right he'll dominate. United have bought players on the back of major injuries before. RVN was amazing, Anderson obviously not. Some are bagging Falcao for being a flop when it's too early imo. My original comment to Faith was that i think she's being unfair to FSG. We both know that Kenny blew the Torres cash and it's likely that Rodgers has blown 50% of the Suarez money. If it was ur money, would you be reluctant to give a lot more out after spending 100m on Anfield?

But the point is you already had two very good strikers, so why the need to splash obscene money on another when you needed more defenders? Clearly the deficiencies are down back not up front? So how can you say you bought well?

And the last 3 years are very relevant, you can't just dismiss it coz the stat doesn't suit you

I don't think United bought well like you claimed, they just have more money and more room for mistakes than others

Anyway I know what I say won't go through to you but you're welcomed to your own opinions about your own club

According to some who worked at the club at the time Carlo was pretty keen on Torres.

Maybe he'll get the sack because he really isn't that good of a manager?
i'm sure he'd look good if we had got cesc and costa, but again without oil money kinda tough

All good mate, i respect your opinion but won't always agree with it. Worldly strikers are available very often. Regarding the last 3 years, significant spend was required as the club hadn't spent enough in the previous years. The stats might differ if u extended your timeframe. United carry 4 strikers every year and LVG didn't rate Welbz so we switched him with Falcao. We couldn't spend any more cash over the summer because of ffp but can in jan so I'd be surprised if we didn't buy a defender then. The scary thing for the rest of the epl is that if United make the ucl, they can pretty much spend more than anyone else for the foreseeable future under the current ffp arrangement.

You spent more than us:rolleyes:, so what's the go with this oil money bullshit.

southamption have been offered the beautiful javi garcia so sayeth the mirror

surprising because i'd seen that he was playing pretty well at zenit. lot of stuff that zenit are looking to sell garcia, witsel, hulk and garay after not progressing in the cl.

But you can't put 3 very good strikers on the pitch together, plus he was coming back from an ACL

If you can't spend anymore in the summer coz of FFP then surely then a few more defenders would've been nice instead of another striker

Anyway enough with picking you apart, just like a deluded Liverpool fan you ain't gonna be convinced here ;)

actually, after the next set of financial results including the tv deal, chelsea, city, arsenal and utd will be the ones way far in front and able to buy whoever they want. ffp will just end up protecting them, especially with the extra money coming in for the friday night games.

We tried the acl thing with van Nistelrooy and it worked. I was excited but confused when we got Falcao instead of a cb. LVG might try and play all 3 at home when Falcao gets fit but meh. I'm just enjoying having a manager that is not David Moyes.

Absolutely correct, it just maintains the status quo.

But back then you actually needed a striker

He's played 3 together already and didn't work too well

Anyway enough with this, I know talking to deluded United fans is like talking to deluded Liverpool fans ;)

We might have spent a little more than you guys but all our signings look like good buys, unlike you guys who didnt buy well.

What's his value on the open market? 25m?

English tax included, I would suggest £35m+.

But surely would not be sold. If he regains his fitness and touch from last season, he'll be getting the contract and wages he wants from Liverpool you'd think.
