Are Liverpool doing anything? Far too quiet for my liking.

Agree, but supposedly Cisse is on the way after the Confed Cup.

Basturk was also involved in the Confed Cup, so maybe there will be news on him soon too.

With Houlahoop's record with signings, Liverpool might be better off keeping their money in the bank.

Sadly you are probably right. But it's just so frustrating! As if our current squad is going to win the title! He is just like Peter Schwab, dodgy heart, too much belief in the current playing group and too soft.

I was hoping for a massive clean out this summer - loaning our reserves players wasn't what I had in mind.

Boro and Leeds are interested in Edu

Is that the Arsenal Edu?Or one of the other at least 3 that are out there.

If it is I've not heard it but it would make the Kewell deal a lot easier, but I wouldn't have thought Edu was a Peter Reid type of player.

The funny thing about Postigia is that they(his agent) reckon he was a Spurs supporter as a a youngster:confused: , you have to ask why a kid in Europe would be supporting the 1990's Tottenham side.

Once again Kluivert has come out & mentioned that he'd like to play for Arsenal, I've always liked him since Man U tried very hard to buy him about 4/5 years ago & he didn't want to live in Manchester but he kept saying how he'd sign for Arsneal but we just weren't interested.

Now Barca look like they may be invoking the clause in his contract which halves his wages but which also means that he can leave for a low fee & once again he's stated that he wants to go to Arsenal.

I'm not sure if I'd rather have him or Harry Kewell, I can't help thinking that Kluivert is a bit too static for our attack, whereas Kewell would definitely fit, but then maybe Kluivert might be what we need to change things a bit, someone to play with his back to goal score from inside the box & maybe a few headers too.

In other news:

- Paul Robinson's talks with Villa have apparently broken down at a very early stage

- PSG appear to be buckling under the constant rumour and speculation and will sell Ronaldinho to someone

- Real Zaragoza is keen on a season-long loan deal for Milan Baros

- Paddy Crerand has called on Sir Alex to bring back Brian Kidd as his #2.

- Barcelona apprently keen on Viduka ???

Apparently the French football 'watch dog' does not allow clubs with financial troubles to buy players, hence PSG may be forced to sell Ronnie before they can make a few signings.

06/27/2003. AC Parma officialized the swap deal that brings Sabri Lamouchi to Inter and Domenico Morfeo to the Tardini, late Friday afternoon.

Under the terms of the deal, the 31 year old midfielder moves permanently to Inter, while Parma have the 27 year old Morfeo on loan for the next two years.

I'm disappointed that we sold Sabri. He's a class player and a good leader.

Freddie Llundberg's Italian representative has been seen having talks with Inter Milan's people.

It doesn't surprise me too much, he's been pretty highly thought of in Italy, if Arsenal can geta good fee for him then it would make sense.

Wenger needs to generate money but there's not many players that can be sold for reasonable fees but who aren't vital to our future success & Freddie is one of the few that fits the bill.

He didn't have a good season & we've got some good cover for the flank positions so it makes sense, the down side is that a swap for Dalmat was mentioned-he's hardly what we need really.

Soccernet are reporting he will be available for only £1.25 million. Wages will obviously be a stumbling block, but Arsenal and United are favoured to get his signature.

I should add that Barca are keen to get Kluivert off their books to make room for none other than Mark Viduka. If his agent is any guide Mark doesn't seem overly keen to remain at Elland Rd.

I'm confident the deal with Barca will happen. It would be a fantastic move for Mark.

No Kewell, no Viduka, no Robinson, no hope, it's hard to see Leeds in anything other than a relegation battle if this happens.

Arsenal can have him. He's turned us down before and has said that he prefers the lifestyle offered in London - f*ck him.

Milner and Lennon will fire us to glory. :D

Seriously Kewell and Robinson are gone, the Viduka to Barca move does make sense but his agent is known for being a bit of a tosser. If everything his agent said was true he would be at Roma now.

Leeds Utd have publicly admitted what everyone has thought for a long time that Viduka and Kewell would both be sold. Leeds said that they are both avaiable for the right price. Considering the bargain basement sale of Robinson to Villa it obviously won't be that much.

Davala To Werder A Done Deal

06/28/2003.
Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have gleefully announced that Turkish World Cup star *mit Davala will be joining them on a one-year loan, which importantly includes an option to make the deal permanent.

"We are delighted to have been able to recruit a player of such fine pedigree," beamed club director Klaus Allofs. "Our Turkish fans, especially, will be overjoyed by the news."

The highly versatile 29-year-old midfielder spent last season on loan for Galatasaray but is officially a player belonging to Inter Milan.

Inter To Sacrifice Cannavaro For Chivu?

06/28/2003.
According to the latest reports out of Milano, Internazionale are strongly considering selling Fabio Cannavaro in order to free up funds to purchase Christian Chivu from Ajax.

The spring-loaded Italian international defender has been a fair way from his best since his high-profile transfer from Parma last summer, meaning that Hector Cuper would probably not be too adverse to letting him leave for either Madrid or Barcelona so long as Chivu is brought in to fill the void.

Inter have been heavily flirting with the young Romanian captain for quite some time now but have been unable to seal the deal due to their current lack of cash flow.

I suppose where his wages are concerned he almost becomes like a Bosman free transfer & so the buying club would ahve to pay him a big signing on fee like Arsenal did with Campbell.

Still if we've missed out on Kewell then I wouldn't mind Kliuvert at £1.5m with a maybe £2m signing on fee for him & then pay him reasonable wages -£40k per week.

Arsenal look like they're very close to landing Jaap Stam, from anywhere between £5m & £7m.

To be honest I'd be surprised if we'd pay £7m for him.

He'd do al right for us but him & Campbell are both big lumps who whiulst both nippy when on the hoof they do take quite a while to change direction & so maybe a more mobile & slightly slimmer partner for Sol would have been the go.

If Inter want Freddie off us (& their general manager has been quoted as saying that they want either Pires or Freddie) then maybe they'd like to swap him for Cannavaro.

Talk of Steve McManamanamanaman signing for City next week on a free or a season long loan is getting louder.

Dipper, I'd be a touched surprised at £7 million for Stam as well. A good player sure, but getting on a bit and in todays market that is a hell of a lot to play, particularly when you don't have a heap of cash to throw around.

I also remember reading something about Lazio breaching several players (including Stam) contracts last year (non payment of salary) and as a result he might be able to leave on a free. Anyone know what the upshot of this was?

Yeah Moomba it did look a bit fanciful & now his agent has come out & said if he leaves Lazio he wants to stay in Italy & go to either of the Milans or Juve(don't think he's got too much hope really), I suddenly rememebred reading a while back that he didn't want to come back to England anyway.

On the subject of his non payment of wages unsurprisingly I think Lazio 'found' the money just before the deadline.:D

So anyway Moomba what about Macca to City?is that a deal that would meet with your approval?

I remember when he was linked with Arsenal a while back I wasn't exactly doing cartwheels but I was kind of intrigued as to whether he'd do any good for us, I also read that Everton were after him, as a supporter wouldn't they be favourites.

Talking of Everton Franny Jeffers has come out & said that he'd like to go back to Everton as everyone knows how much he loves the club:confused: maybe he hasn't noticed but the fans don't love him anymore (not unless they're disguising their love by booing & shouting abuse at him).

A bit the same as you. I think he could be a quality signing, but I could see it all going badly wrong. I have a few question marks over his ability to play out a full season after a long while playing squad football, and I have a few question marks about his willingness to fight for the cause. Still on a free and from what I hear only (I can't believe I said only) £38k a week I think it is a risk worth taking.

I must admit I quite like the bloke, and I do admire the way he was prepared to fight for his spot in Madrid when it would have been pretty easy to skulk home. I also remember getting excited about the signing of the likes of Carl Griffiths, Eike Immel and Eddie McGoldrick so I guess I shouldn't complain too much. ;)

I also read that Everton were after him, as a supporter wouldn't they be favourites.

Apparently Everton aren't prepared to pay over £20k a week on any player. Might be too big a paycut for him.

Ha ha, sometimes you've got to wonder how long it's been since some of these blokes last visited the real world.

Don't think the big move was a smart move for Frannie. I bet you wish you got rid when he was still worth something. Will be a decent player for someone but in todays market I can see him seeing out his contract on the Arsenal bench.
