Thank god, the trans activists in America have decided to cancel their "Day Of Vengeance" rally in Washington DC

I thought they were digging in and going ahead with their pre-planned event. It had all the makings of being one of the more tone-deaf protests we've ever seen, held just days after the Nashville shooting.

It was like watching a car crash in slow motion. People were surely going to be killed.

I'm guessing they'd received threats galore, bomb threats, counter protests from fascists. Maybe the organisers had talks with the cops in DC who said they wouldn't be able to guarantee anyone's safety and wanted no part of this.
So the trans day of visibility rally has been cancelled due to threats of violence and you're happy?

Yes, I genuinely feared there might be people killed by right wing nut jobs and maybe also by any trans-activists who were armed & defending themselves.
Innocent people marching.. Bystanders... Police...

Now is not the time. Let people's emotions subside.. Let the volume of the hysterical anti-trans rhetoric turn down from 11 to 8

Give it a couple of months... Let the air clear... and then hold your rally. The idea is to gain people's support. Not divide the population, which is exactly what this "Day of Vengeance" rally would've done had it gone ahead this weekend. But I take it, you thought TRAN should've pressed ahead and had their protest action this weekend? Why?

Oh... so you think it would be a good idea for the Trans community to throw a few sacrificial lambs to the wolves?

Let the Proud boys or whoever kill a bunch of activists, or start a violent shootout with many dead bodies in the streets.

Graphic footage from several angles

And this would draw national attention to the violence which the transgender community faces.

I see you what you mean.

Smart.

No i think the fact that they can't hold an event on the international day of visibility for themselves is bad

Why activists, you keep framing this as a protest from activists.

Do you think everyone who participated in mardis gras is an activist? Do you think pride is tone deaf?

Would that be your response if pride was cancelled due to threats for far right groups?

Fantasizing much?

Yeah, ok

I getcha bro

It's sad they couldn't have their event to coincide with their "international day of visibility"
I suppose they have Audrey Hale and all the far right hatemongers to thank for that. Just bad timing.

But they can still have their event at a later date when people are less likely to get killed

I applaud the rally organisers for making the responsible decision to cancel in the interests of people's safety even though it probably pains them to do so

Good night, Gralin. :rainbow::):thumbsu:

I am sure there are plenty of “explanations” for every time a 17yo white cis boy shoots up a school that none of you would entertain for a second. In fact didn’t Carringbush2010 get pilloried in another thread for exactly this?

Edit: carringbush has reached out and it is most probable that I’m confusing him with another user - but this definitely happened.

Sorry CB!

I think there is a universal identification of the need for more robust social services and healthcare in the US, it's just that the right have no idea how to address those needs.

This is what Back One Out was referring to:

You're in the wrong place if you want intellectual & moral consistency 😅

You wouldn't be doing that thing where you're accusing other people of the thing you're doing yourself, would you?

What unfair advantage would that concern be based upon?
The anti trans activists would have it that he is denying another man his place in the team, we don't hear about trans men being groomers or nonces either. Throughout this whole thing it's always been trans women who get accused of everything under the sun, it seems like even the bigotry is sexist.

Maybe Gough thinks volleyball is a girl's sport?? That men are somehow at a disadvantage. When they try to smother an opponent from spiking the ball, their dangly bits get stuck in the net. The disadvantages in beach volleyball probably even out. It can't be easy staying calm on match point if you have sand in your vagina.

Interesting point.

I'd say that trans men are a lot less visible. Fewer narcissists among their ranks making public spectacles of themselves. I don't mean that to sound transphobic. Just pointing out that, for whatever reason, the number of famous/infamous/prominent trans women seems to greatly outnumber the trans men. There's Elliott Page... and.... ummm... ???

Possibly, it's easier for trans men to pass themselves off as biologically-male and therefore avoid the level of scrutiny faced by trans-women. They aren't as glamorous with their appearance. No make-up. No high heels. No big hair-dos or red dresses. Just blending in with everyone else in their jeans and flanny shirt and baseball cap.

How many among us could actually be 100% sure of the difference between a very butch lesbian and a trans man ? Tell them apart, I mean, without them identifying themselves?

Also, I could be wrong, but the accusations about "groomers" refers to the drag queens, doesn't it? You shouldn't conflate drag queens with transgender women. Drag queens are flamboyantly gay men who cross-dress in a performative way. Transgender women are not "gay". They identify as a woman. Some are sexually attracted to other women. Some are attracted to men. Some are bi.

Lol 😂

Wtf is this s**t? Could be any more of a twit?
I was thinking of the celebs. The trans-women who become famous for being transgender and draw scorn from the transphobes. e.g Caitlin Jenner, Dylan Mulvaney.. Even Dani Laidley, through no fault of her own, but getting her mug shots plastered over the front & back page of the papers. These are the people who become flashpoints for widespread bigotry & hate from clueless folks online. That's what Gough was talking about, I think...

I wasn't referring to normal everyday transgender women whom we meet in our day-to-day lives.
