Hell no. McVeigh is very much required.

We have enough players in his calibre, plus either Saddington or Okeefe would fit into the bombers lineup very nicely

I would be happy if the dons out of the trade week could get Salopek, Okeefe, Blumfield (preseason) and heffernan (for cupido maybe).

McVeigh is our best stopper, can win his own footy, is one of our best kicks, has pace and is still young.

He's quality and steadily improving, i'd hate to see him go just before he hits his peak.

Overrated, wouldn't be worth it. I don't 'rate' (for want of a better term) him at all.

He is a very good footballer. He would add some class to a very much grunt orientated midfield. Too much blue collar and not enough silk through our on- ball division.

Depending on how much melbourne would want for him i think he would be worth it. Its time for our football department to stop talking and take some action on the midfield issue.

Sheedy wants to buslter up ythe midfield so it suggested in the paper we should trade for crawford. Personally we should use mark Johnson and sumthing esle (Henneman :D ) for travis johnstone. And maybe shop around bolton to port for salopek.
Bolton for Salopek ... would like to see Porthos' reaction to this proposal. :D

What would you guys offer for Andrew McLeod? ... & don't suggest duds like Heneman.

You mustn't watch a lot of Essendon games.
Our biggest let down this season was a lack of players with genuine foot skills. McVeigh's are the best at the club.

And there isn't any indication spike wants to go to sydney....he does want to play with his brother, but in an essendon jumper.

Although McLeod in a Bomber guernsey would be fantastic, I don't think he'd be worth the asking price. Too old, IMO - we're probably not going to win next year's cup regardless. Max age for any significant trade should be 24.

OK, now I'm more than happy to get rid of Henneman. In fact I will pay a considerable amount of money to whoever will take him away from Essendon. Welsh and McVeigh on the other hand MUST stay.

I'm still thinking about who else we could rid ourselves of FOREVER, muhahahaha (evil laugh) or at least until Sheeds decides he wants them back.

Could you imagine McLeod passing the ball to Lloyd all year. 120-130+ goals he would be looking at. McLeod has some of the best foot skills I have ever seen.

Ur dreamin buddy. Stop kiddin urselves. Its not healthy.

For Mcleod I reckon wed offer the following.. Mark Jhonson + 1st round pick
or Jhonson + Bolton What do you think is this fair?? perhaps not.

I rate O'Keefe but i think we need a player like McVeigh more than we need a half forward flanker.

Dunno , apart from Lloyd this year we have really struggled for a small goalkicker and when Lloyd or Lucas aren't kicking goals we really tend to struggle on the scoreboard. Dont get me wrong I love Mcveigh and think he will continue to improve dont want to trade him its just that i rate Okeefe very very highly.

Yeah, I would probably swap Macca for MJ + 1st rounder. We need some more harder type players in our team. I reckon Macca would be well suited to the Dons setup, as it will give you a classy finisher type midfielder to feed your forwards. Can't see AFC trading Macca though. Rumour was that Sheedy is more interested in Tyson Edwards.

He isn't a crumber though, or a powerful marking target, which is what we need, and i'd be worried that he'd suffer from the same problem that often confronts our other marking forwards - simply that the ball is nearly always kicked to Lloyd and they are ignored. He would make our forward line better, but not, IMO, by any more than losing McVeigh would make our midfield/defensive options weaker.

Agreed. I'd have him in a flash. Would you reckon Melbourne would take Mark Johnson plus a 2nd round pick?

OMG! Totally not worth it, people! What is wrong with you all? Mark Johnson is fine where he is and Johnstone is fine playing very mediocre and inconsistent football for Melbourne too.

Id take Okeefe

I think O'Keefe has the potential to be an awesome player, and at the start of the year I would probably have taken O'Keefe in a flash.......but Mark McVeigh's second half of the year has changed my mind...looks like he is on the verge of becoming a fantastic midfielder for us....just needs some polished support like T.Johnstone....who incidentally I would gladly recieve for M.Johnson....in terms of team structure, we have enough tough in and under players like him.....we need some silk for the next few years until players like Dyson and Winderlich cut loose.
