Had to laugh at Croad's choice of parting words: "to play for the very team that I barracked for, and now I leave as a 29-year-old dad, husband and, more importantly, a premiership player"

I'm sure his family will appreciate that one. ;)

GALON How did the majority of Hawks fans behave when Lloyd retired?
No bombers fans have even come remotely close to that with Croad. The double standards I have come to expect from you.
You're having a decent crack it it, flog.

But of course, you wouldn't know anything about being the bigger person and just letting it go, even if it is months later.

Lol @ that statement coming from a hawks fan. Nice work.
By the way I wished Croad the best. I just disagree that he was a champion.

Agreed.

That was brilliant.

Almost shinboner spirit...

Croad's physicality in that play set the tone for the rest of the team to not let their chance at winning the flag slip.
It's a common point made by those remembering his career. That motion to move towards Selwood in a last ditch effort to impact the contest will never be forgotten.

Hat's off to Croad and those in here with kind words, he leaves our club for the second time, and with a Premiership medal in his clasp. :thumbsu:

Well this is certainly a shock. Surprising news indeed

What that they have actually got a confirmed source now
All we need now is Jimboy to arrive and the circus is complete.

Congratulations to TC on a fine career - AA 2005, Premiership medal 2008 - in footy parlance it can't get much better than that.

All the best in your retirement, as the oldest remaining player your experience and leadership will be missed but hopefully you will remain around the club and continue to inspire our young players.

Good Luck Croad - you were a good player and got a premiership. Well Done!

I hope you will be remembered more for your football heroics than all the "croad has retired" false start threads on bigfooty :D

By the way I wished Croad the best. I just disagree that he was a champion.

And I wish you the best. I just disagree that you're worth taking seriously/treating with any respect.

Trent was an absolute champion, one of the best contested marks and readers of the ball in the air of the modern era and he will be sorely missed.

Hawthorn immortal.

Good player? Yes. Champion? My a***.

Champion of VFL / AFL = Ablett senior, Polly, Skilts, Plugger, Barney, Blight etc.

Champion of Hawthorn = Crimmins, Barney, Langford, Dippa, Moore, Knights etc.

There are my definitions, Croad doesn't come into the above categories, he comes into the good player category. Champion has become a bastardised word, over used to the max.

Anyway good on ya Croady, enjoy the rest.

It's easy to be accepted as a champion when you're surrounded by them, Croady stood up for us time after time when we were struggling and when we were on top alike. He was a human full stop.

A Champion of our club in the truest sense of the word.

Anyway good on ya Croady, enjoy the rest.
