Well maybe some neutral fans from other teams could post their opinion on whether they think he is a champion.
And what, leave all you Essendon trolls with nothing to do?

GALON How did the majority of Hawks fans behave when Lloyd retired?
No bombers fans have even come remotely close to that with Croad. The double standards I have come to expect from you.

Lol at his use of the term "neutral" in this context!

An accidental admission of flogdom if I've ever heard one, this must be how Detective Goran feels all the time...:D

Will miss TC tucking the ball under his arm and charging down the field! Before his injury was playing great footy. Glad he got a Premiership medal. Hopefully stays around the club and helps the kids coming on!

:rolleyes:It's not like you aren't trying mate, it's just that there's not nearly as much ammunition for you.:thumbsu:

Who would've thought at the time when he hit the post in the 2001 prelim that the first to win a flag since that day has been Croad and not Essendon.

No surprise that the only real negativity coming from this thread is the work of uber-flogs like the Donners and TeamHurley. The latter is without question the most classless poster on BF IMO.

Simply calling it how I see it.

Was terrific in his earlier stint with us. Ask your Dad to tell you about it. His early form was the reason so many Hawk supporters (myself included) were livid at the thought of trading him, to the point of holding a 'Save Trent Croad' rally. Not many prospective tradees engender that sort of feeling. And this even though the compensation offered was 2 x picks (including the #1 pick) in what was thought to be the best ever draft. Even the press and opposition fans thought it was an extremely bad move.

He was promising, hardly terrific. Hawthorn easily won that deal.

A lot of fuss for such mediocrity.

Could have something to do with the fact that the majority of Hawthorn supporters believe playing in a premiership team lifts you to champion status.

Wouldn't be the first good player to be 'Fremantled', but if you actually look closer, he was far from comical there. Would love to hear your description of Highpants' last few seasons if that's the case.

After returning from the injury (hamstring ripped from the bone) he wasn't the same player and so isn't really a great loss but there aren't too many opposition supporters that suggest Lloyd isn't a loss. It's kind of having your cake and eating it too.

As has been said, his '05 AA would suggest otherwise...for starters.

AA is a farce.

Please don't pretend to know anything at all about our list. Analysis from you is as creditable as the old Lou Richards 'Kiss of Death'.

Yeah, forgot about Schoenmakers, Murphy and Dowler. There's a reason Hawthorn overspent when trading for Gibson.

Wow, after your carry on with Robbie Campbell's retirement you could just sit back for this one, but no, you have to act in just the same way. Each time you try and link it back to Lloyd's retirement, difference is Robbie and Croady were still wanted, just their bodies gave in. Your boy was pushed. Let it go champ.

Croady, champion, All Australian player and pure heart and soul. An amazing athlete who held down key position for his whole career at only 190cm.

Sad day for me, But happy to know that his last act as a player on a footy field was in a Grand Final and smashing Joel Selwood as he came off the ground with the broken foot.

He was all about the brown and gold till then end!!

Deserved that medal more than anyone on that day!!

I wished croad well. Just because I dont agree he is a champion that is no reason to get upset.

But all your boys wanted to cry when some wouldn't call Lloyd a champion, but what was all that about double standards you were carrying on about earlier?

Wow you think you could wish a bloke well in a thread on a good career without getting attacked by rabid hawthorn fans.

Agreed.

That was brilliant.

Almost shinboner spirit...

Croad's physicality in that play set the tone for the rest of the team to not let their chance at winning the flag slip.

So tiresome. Could those who want to continue the line in the sand debate do so over in Bay 13? Go and look for the last word there.

Croad was not amongst the all-time champions, but nor was he mediocre. He was, however, a player who eventually learned how to play to his potential and to follow team rules - to the benefit of those who played with him. He worked hard to win his premiership medallion and thoroughly deserved it. He may have been lucky, but as the saying goes - you make your own luck.

All the best for whatever the future holds.
