The muchly anticipated follow up album to Ascendancy is released on October 10th.

I have listened to all the songs on the album & it sounds pretty good!

Certainly is different with Matt not screaming on any of the tracks, this has caused quite a bit of controversy amongst Trivium fans.

Not gonna start to compare his vocals to James Hetfield, but geez he does sound very much like a young Hetfield on this album!

And the actual style & sound of the album has got tinges of 'And Justice For All' in it.

Stand out tracks for me would be Detonation, The Anthem(We Are The Fire), Entrance Of The Conflagration & Ignition.

The title track The Crusade is an 8 minute instrumental & is pretty cool.

Fellow Trivium fans, have you heard any of the new stuff & what is your opinion on Matt's new style?

Cheers Guys :D

I have heard detonation and loved it, don't want to spoil the actual purchase by listening to the rest now it comes out soon and i can't wait.

Apparently lots more killer riffs and solo's by the boys aswell.

I heard he still screams, probably not as much as Ascendancy though.

They may sound a little like Metallica which is good because, lets face it, metallica are gods, but i would love to see them develop thier own sound which i think they have started with ascendancy.

Totally agree bout the Metallica comment, they are my all time fav band!

These guys are the new kids on the block & will go a long way I'm sure.

We sometimes forget how young they are, only in their very early 20's.

Matt hardly screams @ all, think on one song there is a tiny bit but thats pretty much it!

His voice has developed alot though & will only get better :thumbsu:

So he doesn't scream or growl at all? Good thing, 'cos he was rubbish at it. Sounded like a little kid pretending to be scary. Great musos these blokes. If you can't do it, don't try. If it's not bad arse, it's shyte.

I bought Ascendancy and thought it was horrible. Music was boring and his screaming sounded second rate.

If you want to listen to the "new breed", go listen to Mastodon and Lamb of God. Their new albums are much better. Even go listen to the new Napalm Death.

And saying Metallica and Trivium in the same breath is rubbish. They are a poor man's *****ing Razors (ok, that was a touch harsh).

That's your opinion mate. Your opinion is rubbish, but that's another argument altogether.

becomming the dragon was the worst song ive ever heard
they lost something which made me love ember to inferno and ascension

They have lost Matt's screaming vocals but the music has never been better!

Is that the only song you have heard on the album?

I agree, it is not the best song on the album by a long way but I would'nt go as far as saying its the worst song EVER!

Having now listened to the whole album probably around 20 times in the car already:D ..

I must say this is clearly the best album yet!

Musically,it has gone to another level than Ascendancy without doubt :thumbsu:

Mastodon wipe the floor with trivium in every aspect of music apart from the fact they decide not to fill their music with boring shread solo's

Because they can't?

Do you realise how talented you have to be to pull off some of thier solo's well?

Trivium is climbing the mountain mate, every heavy metal mag, website etc, love them, they wil be huge mate, get over it.

you could have all the skill and talent in the world, it still doesnt mean the really fast solo you play is the best, i know a guy who could learn the trivium solos in a day or two, why isnt he the "next best thing"
being able to **** off your guitar means **** all in making good music

What, because Heavy Metal Mags and websites speak for everyone?

It depends on taste. Sure, they can pull off fast solos, but as Zakk Wylde says, there is much more to it than that. I find that fans of harder music hate them, and fans of not so hard metal (if that makes sense) love them.

But whatever floats your boat pal. I'll stick with the new ones from Lamb of God, Mastodon and Napalm Death. I'll give Trivium a miss and spend the 20 bucks on something else.

The crusade is a very good album but IMO lacks the intensity of Ascendancy. A little bit of screaming would have been good. Too many solos.
