What happened to Nic Cage he's just been in nothing but mediocre to insipidly churned out trash for more than a decade.. tele movies & a sitcom would complete the plummet

Got into the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Rockets as a young lad back in the 90s. Don Lane was my go to on the ABC. I'd like to say there was something that set them apart but I was probably just bandwagoning as a ten year old.

NBA i didn't want to follow everyone else and go for Jordan's bulls. Loved Hakeem and Kemp. Was a coin toss but the Rockets won out.

Stop following when it went off free to air but getting broadband and finding streaming services got me back into it. Was like being a kid again.
Everyone hating Dallas kind of put me in a Us against Them attitude which helped reset the passion for The Cowboys. Everyone hating on Romo when he was my favorite player just confirmed it.

Rockets played a gutsey series against the eventual champion Lakers when Yao went down in 07. Pushed them to seven games. Just that bunch of underachievers pushing teams and tgen getting Harden just set me up with them again.

I will say there was something about getting up at 4am on a Monday morning to watch the NFL with other die hards on this forum back around 08 that also made you feel like you are part of something. When the AFL was becoming tedious when ypur team wasn't playing, the NFL was enjoyable even if your team wasn't playing.

Also any top 10 Metallica list that doesn't include Blackend, Creeping Death or Motorbreath is invalid

I was a Charlotte fan back in the day. Mourning Johnson dell gill bogues was an epic team. Kinda lost touch with nba same reasons and they killed Charlotte

The Rabbitohs is a cult look

Tom: Hey, it's Chiwigi. Cool.
Russ: Chiwigi. Nice.
Bloke with birdshit in his hair: Is that Chiwigi? ...something just shat on my head didn't it?
Other guy: Oh ****. It's Chiwigi

More fitting thread:

Geez I still remember my mother taking us kids to Mount Carmel Church Pennington on Sundays. Only problem was I would wake up outside and was told I fainted. This happened a few times, so after that I said well, if that's what happens when you go to church, it is not going to happen again. I never went to church again.:D
Did your mother take you to the 8am mass where they wouldn't let you eat before you went to church something stupid about fasting before eating that shit plastic wafer and every diabetic or child in the place would be feeling woozy by 10am when all the handshaking and ass kissing outside the church finished and you still had a drive home before you could eat - was it that particular brand of Catholic punishment? They really were clueless.

It is recommended a minimum of one-hour fasting before communion. No need for suffering...

---

My wife and I have a compromise: I can take the kids to church, but not force them to go. So, they only go by their own volition. It comes and goes. But, I believe it is better this way. Hopefully, from my part, they will eventually get why I go and follow me.

Still, I once scared the sh*t of my older boy when I answered that "I go to mass to die" (which is true). I should be more careful with my words. He wasn't much convinced even when I told him that "but we never do. We always come back alive. That's the 'Good News'!" :)

Having an interest in World War 1, I would be grateful for recommendations of WW1 related movies, documentaries, literature and experiences of past relatives.

I recently discovered THE GREAT WAR Channel, an extensive covering of every week of WW1 from July 28th 1914 through to November 1918.

Bought a dinosaur skeleton for a fortune.
Turned out it was stolen.
Had dinosaur skeleton taken away.
Received no remuneration.
Lost a fortune.
Started taking any part offered to him.
Took a lot of dud parts and sabotaged reputation.
Only dud roles offered to him thereafter.

Something like that anyway.

Needs a Tarantino or type like that to pull him out of the doldrums.

Guilty confession: I was a tween when Valley Girl came out and i fell in love with Nicholas Cage at the time ... WTF was i thinking? He was shit, the movie was shit, what the hell?

And FU Dingle you continually bring that movie up like you are trolling all the silly young girls at the time .. unless you too had a thing for Nicholas Cage?

* edit: I just looked up the photos of the film. His caterpillar eyebrows and pineapple hair what's not to love. Either i had self esteem issues then or we were really starved of entertainment at that time.

Three words sis.

Deborah Foreman.

This is how you get high rating show cancelled, vj is Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency and considered one of his most influential aides.

Roseanne's twitter account was a ticking time bomb. Real shame because the show was a phenomenal success and something working class Americans could relate to. Hard to see another network pick it up given so many that worked on the show basically quit before finding out it was being cancelled.

She’s always been a campaigner.

If you're a good listener there's a podcast series by a guy named Dan Carlin called Hardcore History, Blueprint for Armageddon. It's huge, in 5 parts and goes for more than 20 hours. I've been listening on and off for about a month and have just finished part 3. The detail is incredible - and intense.

From a personal point of view my great grandfather fought at Gallipoli. He was a scottish sailor who jumped ship in Port Adelaide (illegal immigrant/boat person) for a bird (great grandmother). When the war started he signed up in Adelaide. He was wounded at Gallipoli badly enough to be sent home, which might have saved his life as it meant he wasn't sent on to the western front. I've read his army records, which are pretty funny. A few court martials for being drunk and going awol in Egypt.

I've recorded myself on an 8 track and it has come out sounding better than Justice For All

I like the raw, dry sound of justice for all better than the sound they got when they brought in Bob Rock to make them sound more like motley crue
