Can we afford to have both in the middle next year and beyond? Neither hurt the opposition with their skill but they both get plenty of clearances. I really like both but honestly we haven't gone far with these 2 together and you wonder if we ever will. I think one will have to make way for Thomson at some stage. I think Tuck will have to play pretty well to keep his spot over the next 2 months

you are an idiot if you have seen thomson you will know that he is nothing special and to say that he is better than tuck and foley is laughable. just because we recruited him and isnt currently playing how do you know how he has been performing- if you have sene him play you wudent want him in the team...

Your right, lets drop out best player last week and one of our best players this week :o

Idiotic logic

Who's going to take the spot? Thomson. Laughable. He can't even get a game ahead of Edwards, Schultz and JON. Tuck and Foley are so much better then him it's not funny. Just wait til he comes in and starts butchering the ball

sure they tend to be ineffective, but with cousins, and cotch added o the midfield rotation they should be used in shorter stints so they can become more dangerous.

Tuck and Foley are 95% of the reason we are good in the clearances. There is no reason to drop one.

I love the logic behind this one
We have gone no where while foley and tuck have played
Therefore we can't hang on to both of them
By this logic we should replace every person involved in Richmond over the past 20+ years

I wonder MT, you just consistently push the same barrow Tuck is good he was good again today Thomson is an unknown he has been in bests once for Coburg yet Tuck was in bests for Richmond. A non contest atm Tuck >>>>>>>> Thomson.

The suggestion of dropping Foley isnt worthy of an explanation just madness.

Exactly right. People on here forget just how good Tuck is and how important he is to our center work. Seems that every player has to be flashy and silky to be a good player on here. Nothing wrong with Tuck, consistently does his job and does it damn well.

Would be good time now for the rest of this year to try a few different players in different positions, ala NAB cup games. Would like to see Polo Collins and Tambling given some time in the middle to see what they can do. Not just a quarter here and their, a few weeks to settle in and see if they can use the ball or are they always to be outside mids?

Tuck and Foley could relish the opportunity to play a little wider, a little more freedom to create.

Should definately not drop these blokes but develop a ballance where they can both accentuate each others ability to "own" the midfield next year and beyond.

I'm thinking more of the future. I just wonder if we'll struggle next year with a midfield that lacks super skills. Tuck and Foley have been patchy this year. They've got plenty of the ball but haven't set the world on fire. Thomson sounds like a promising player and will break into the team at some stage. I think he should be given a run too see what he has and if Tuck or Foley don't produce alot over the next month, then give him a go.

Foley on the whole has been disappointing since his breakthrough year in '07...yet the fact remains, even since then, he is still currently the only player on our list....barring Richo years ago...that I've seen single-handedly change the momentum and win games for us, something even Deledio for all his ability has yet to do. As I've said before, could be our version of Paul Kelly....hopefully he will be....before too long...

Oh yeah last year was years ago mate, lol.

Do I agree that Foley has been sub-par since 2007 though. Is he struggling with a tag? I dont really notice a heavy tag on him. He is an in and under type yes but broke games apart and kicked goals in 2007 so where has it gone? Maybe he just has no support from the players around him.

So which game did Richo win for us single-handedly last year? I must've missed that one...and seeing as I saw 22 Richmond games last year, I can only assume there was a secret 23rd round that only you were privvy to...shame it didn't count towards the Brownlow, otherwise he might've just got up.

Foley has all the tools. He won't be going anywhere. He just needs a little bit more help. Once he gets it with guys like Cotch, Cogs and Cuz running into form he will bare the rewards.

Ride off Nathan Foley at your own peril

Richmond are hardly in a position to drop either..... They are both walk up starts at Tigerland....

Only problem with Foley can be his decision making at times but he is easily in our best players..
Tuck is probably not the most skillfull player but again more than capable..

These two need not worry about being dropped..... for a long time...
