Tunnelling is back!

A message to any umpire in the audience:

McPhee and McPharlin 'tunnelled' several of our players last night the most notable occurring when McPharlin sent Jack sideways into the pack. I've noticed also that opposition players are implementing a sideways tunnel on Jack when his feet leave the ground. You must stop this practice now. It is illegal, dangerous and cowardly


PS. You might want to do something about the holding too while you're at it!

...i just thought JR8 was showing off by trying to mark the footy with his feet!......

...i was right behind that incident...seriously that looked bad!...

...forget about those umpires the AFL ought to look at this incident long and hard and introduce some guidelines before someone gets seriously hurt!...

...that being our JR8!...

...cannot have one of the premier forwards in the game being unfairely targetted...he is such a spectacular drawcard...

...but i guess they wont move at all until it happens to collingwood...

I'm sure they did in the recent past and you can now be reported for the practise but the umpires are not implementing it. Last night McPhee tunnelled Cotch and gave away the free but was not reported.

I hope that the match review panel takes a long hard look at the footage, and also the White "free kick".

Or Nick Riewoldt. Wasn't it the Sainters who bitched and whinged about tunneling when a rule was then put in place for it. Was policed for about a season or 2 and now it seems to be forgotten.

I'm still not quite sure what thr problem was the the White free kick - the freo player got there forst and was attempting to mark it (yes, he dropped it). But White was making front-on contact, and under the rules of the game, in a marking contest, if you make any front-on contact with the player attempting to mark it, it's a free.

Certainly White was not trying to hurt the Freo player - it was just timing, and he just got it wrong.
