Two untried 2007 draftees are among five possible inclusions for Adelaide’s clash with Hawthorn.

Patrick Dangerfield and Jarrhan Jacky have joined Bryce Campbell, Robert Shirley and Ivan Maric as selection options for Sunday’s round-four game at Launceston’s Aurora Stadium.

Out of last week’s Showdown side are Kris Massie (hamstring) and Luke Jericho (cracked sternum) but the Crows will continue to monitor the fitness of Nathan Bassett and Jonathon Griffin (heavy knocks) and Jason Porplyzia (shoulder) before flying to Tasmania on Saturday afternoon.

Coach Neil Craig said he would give these players as long as possible to prove their fitness before making a final decision.

Dangerfield, who turned 18 last Saturday when he made his SANFL league debut for West Adelaide, has not been ruled out of selection by Craig despite returning to his Year 12 studies in Geelong this week.

“As I have said previously, the fact Patrick is back in Victoria will not stop us from selecting him if that’s the way we want to go,” Craig said.

Bryce Campbell, who played one AFL game last season in his first year with the Crows, won a recall on the back of an outstanding midfield performance for Norwood last weekend.

Shirley missed round two because of a quad strain but then sat out last weekend as Adelaide’s emergency while Jacky, 19 last Saturday, has shown some good form in the SANFL with Woodville-West Torrens. Maric, an emergency last weekend for the Crows, also played well for the Port Adelaide Magpies.

Adelaide trains at Max Basheer Reserve on Saturday from 10am. The team will not train in Launceston but will have a walk on Aurora Stadium from about 5pm on Saturday.

The team is:

B: Johncock, Rutten, Bassett
HB: Doughty, Bock, Symes
C: van Berlo, Thompson, Vince
HF: McLeod, Goodwin, Edwards
F: McGregor, Burton, Stevens
R: Griffin, Porplyzia, Douglas
Inter (from): Tippett, Jacky, Shirley, Mackay, Dangerfield, Maric, Campbell
Into 25: Jacky, Shirley, Mackay, Dangerfield, Maric, Campbell
Out of 22: Massie (hamstring), Jericho (cracked sternum)

The fact that we name Dangerfield after the last few weeks, must show the amount of expectation we have on the kid.

BTW my avatar just kicks up a notch. :thumbsu:

You are quick ... that was only up for about a minute before we fixed that!

In: Maric, Campbell
Out: Massie (inj), Jericho (inj)

Emg: Shirley, Dangerfield, Jacky

Good changes. :thumbsu:
Maric won't play.

I'm going to go for Shirley and Jacky.

Not what I would do, but logic is this:

Jacky replaces Jericho's attacking role on HFF.

Shirley replaces Massie...not directly, but he will grab a spot in the midfield and maybe Doughty will go back... I'd like to see Campbell, but won't happen.

I hope they don't pick Shirley .. Not enough room for Shirley AND Doughty. Dogga has been in great form this year as well. Maybe Jacky in the fwd line and Douglas/Vince more in the middle? Great to see Danger picked as a EMG, probably won't play though.

Maric won't play.
Which is farcical. :thumbsu:

Seriously, WHY isn't Maric in the team? We struggle enough with just Griffin and Tippett, let alone with Griffin below 100%. How hard can it be to stick Tippett up forward and leave him there while rotating Maric and Griffin through the ruck?

And Rocket will play, it's a fact.

We would have lost last week if Maric played Drummy, however, this week would be a good week to bring in Maric.

Just read that Jacky is named for the Eagles.

See this is what shits me, Bryce Campbell has NEVER played defence for Norwood, always been in the guts or on a HFF! Don't bloody play him in defence!

I agree, we are putting undue pressure on Griff, our midfield and our forward structure. I hate the top heavy line.

Dont worry mate.

The ins this week are Shirley and Campbell.

We've done the maths*.

John Reid said that Patrick Dangerfield will train with the side on Saturday morning, so I would not be surprised one bit to see him debut.

Especially if they travel to Tasmania early and they have a late injury.
