Politics & Government Ukraine

I agree with what Yellow Feathers said above. People know and can see this stuff. They just don't care.
I think people do care when they are being lied to. Many people still trust the MSM and their government to tell them the truth.

Thanks to the internet we can now prove to people quite easily that they are being lied to.

I don't know what it is like in North America right now but people here in Aus are being fed a bullshit narrative by the MSM about Ukraine every single day.

The ABC are as guilty as anybody else, too, which I find most disturbing.

Does everybody remember crazy ol Joe Biden?

That's right, Vice President of the United States of America.

Well he has a son, who just landed himself a nice new gig on the board of a country's largest private gas producer.

Guess where?

Ukraine! What are the odds of this?

They are just taking the piss now. Our closest ally. Plundering a nation. Before our very eyes.

Let's see what the MSM has to say about this over the next few days.
lol they are just taking the piss really

If it weren't so serious it would be endlessly amusing.

USAID (a gov agency) has underwritten a $1b Ukrainian bond issuance (bonds are simply private investors lending a government money) at a rate similar to US Treasury bonds. This is incredible enough, except...

...Bank of America Merryll Lynch has warned private investors that they might not get their money back if Eastern Ukraine wins independence from Kiev, and that the entire $17b 'aid' package might have to be 'restructured' in such an event.

Now what do you think this might encourage the Kiev junta to do?

Think really hard.

'Hey, all that money you've been given in aid and loans is contingent on those people in the east who desperately want to get away from you - and will fight for their freedom - not being allowed to break away'.

Stunning that people aren't paying attention to this.

Excellent op-ed piece. We will eventually have to face the reality, whether we like it or not.
Just imagine…

If in 2003, Russia and its closest allies had launched a full-scale military invasion of an oil-rich country in the Middle East, having claimed that that country possessed WMDs which threatened the world and that afterwards no WMDs were ever found.

That up to 1 million people had been killed in the bloodshed that followed the invasion and that the country was still in turmoil over 10 years later.

That Russian companies had come in to benefit from the reconstruction and rebuilding work following the 'regime change'.

yeah they would never intentionally mislead people
Russia ****s, US ****s, Ukrainian hard right ****s, but I think the one group really getting off lightly is the EU. Given this is a geopolitical and resource access arm wrestle between Russia and the EU and given the EU is the one who really has been provoking the whole thing and forced Russias hand.

Likewise are using it as an excuse to drum up support for supra national militarization of the trading block.

It's even worse on the EU's part. The EU has no intention of allowing Ukraine to join and has no intention of providing the hundreds of billions of euros they spent to develop Poland.

Definitely there is a culture of unaccountable jackassedry. It's funny and depressing watching random EU officials be questioned and how smugly patronising or irate they get, when the questions are even slightly probing. The insults and nazi or europhobe stuff is shockingly juvenile, likewise, even the yanks can't get away with the same level of transparent pro corporate ass kissing or apologism, which just seems to be the default re policy making, public discourse or press behavior.

Hilariously undemocratic and out of touch. Zero ****s given for EU citizens, or most member states. Just a giant crooked bureaucracy that services a rich entrenched oligarchy, absolutely beyond reproach (in their own eyes). Mostly German BTW. Funny how well the current state of the union matches plans for the contingency fourth Reich, or economic and political (soft power) Reich thought up by the Nazi's when the war turned.

I am not saying this is what has happened, just that some ideas and plans linger, be that in industry or the moneyed gentry and industrialists who survived the war.

In fact, the best corollary I can think of is a more sophisticated and perhaps self controlled version of China's national peoples congress, sans the brutal authoritarian top down leadership and unicameral function.

I honestly just think the EU just makes decisions without thinking of the consequences.

So German domination is just the inevitable result of the economic integration.

I remember reading an article back at the start of the year where some EU bureaucrats admitted that they hadn't discussed how Russia would react to Ukraine.

If I were a globalist I would also want you to think that my outrageous actions were simply poor decisions made without thinking through the consequences.

You honestly think all these non German euro politicians wanted Berlin calling all the shots?
Especially the French.

Ukraine is a different matter but the Euros are in for an easy market to exploit. Only Poland, the Baltics and the UK are against the Russians.
German business is actually pretty unhappy by all of it as it's cost them 5 billion euros.

The Yanks wanted to have a go at Russia and to damage Russian and German relations

Of course they do. They also use stock photos all the time. I worked for a daily paper a number of years ago in a marketing department and we'd often supply the same photos. Journalists don't really see it and Editors don't usually take the time to verify.

[FORBES.com: "Washington is actually far more corrupt than Beijing... From an East Asian point of view, the United States is already, in its political dynamics, a Third World country." (forbes.com)

America is about to go pop. It's crazy the actual state of their union. It's something you can't look at. The corruption is at such a point, the safety valves in place to limit corruption are corrupt beyond repair. We look up to these people? politically? socially?
