Most of the frees were there and just reckless on Freos part.

However, consistency wasn't there and that Sutcliffe one on Johnson certainly was NOT there which resulted in a goal.

so I don't watch much of the footy media. Has this been raised by any media commentators? High hopes I know... but surely the 720 team on sunday morning had something to say?

Not from what I have seen/heard but I'd be surprised if Maumill didn't mention it on 6PR on yesterday being the good Freo boy that he is. I really do hope Brad and Karl bring it up with Ross tonight.

"There is one difficulty for an umpire; and that is if a person ducks or drives forward and the person tackling comes rushing in, then the tendency is still to pay the free kick to the person who gets high contact.

"It's difficult to adjudicate but we're trying to discourage that."

... except when Geelong spend an entire game doing it, then it just gets lauded as clever play.

Nothing in print media today about the lopsided free kick count in Saturday nights game. Maybe we are wrong. Maybe the kicks were there and we are being too parochial.

Why are so many neutrals echoing our frustrations ??????

On 882 this morning they ripped into it (don't remember who it was), about 9.30am could of been Adshead and somebody else.

They were utterly ruthless and argued it's cost us Top 2 and potentially a GF.

I'm sure which quarter it was (and I'm not sure if I can even explain this right) does anyone remember Ballantyne getting pinged for bumping the player off and gunning for the ball?

He does it just about every game (because of height restrictions), a Freo player will bomb it down the corridor and for him to beat his man, he bumps them side on, he chases the ball and typically goals it. It's a legal bump but this time he was pinged the second he tried it.

Just shows that the normal way we go about our game was sabotaged and mutilated by the Umps.

Karl and Brad will be asking Ross about the umpiring tonight. Doubt Ross will say anything as the AFL gags everyone in regards to speaking out about piss poor umpiring

Didn't get a chance to listen to any reviews on the radio regarding the game.

I did hear that Hackdorn got stuck in Sunday morning and Bobby was actually telling him to pull his head in.
Thought it would have been the other way around.

Waiting till the wife and kids go to bed tonight so I can watch On the Couch and 360.

Not expecting much.

No one in Melbourne cares about the blatant disparity in Free kicks between us and Geelong. Reality is, we are minnow team in a big pond. I have no doubt if Collingwood, Carlton and the other big Vic clubs recieved the same treatment there would be uproar

I think it was the 2nd quarter where he clearly leant is fore-arm in and was pinged for hands in the back (which was incorrect).

I cried myself to sleep last night because you banned me. I managed to fill up these 3 cups and when they were full I did not fret as I knew there will soon be a 4th to fill

The sad thing for your football club is that the injuries are only going to increase. One of your ex players has broken his neck. Is that because he played the Geelong way, ducking his head to try and get a free kick? Bartel, Mackie, Johnson and Selwood are all likely to suffer serious damage as a result of their cheating behaviour. I just hope it isn't in a game against Fremantle, because you mongrels will blame the opposition, not the ducking player.

I feel sorry for this mental midget.
Must be hard when your own Mother wants to slap you every time she sees you.

I noticed it right away as Ballantyne does it all the time and never gets pinged for it, but of course, Geelong....

I bet your mattress is stuffed with handbags and long term memory loss.

You can go any across the round and watch well timed and properly executed bumps be correctly ignored by the umps by players of any team... except of course...

That call just made no sense.
