Without doubt the worst umpiring performance I have seen in quite a while.

I never understand why the umpires choose to make up their own set of rules at crucial stages of the game. That bald headed w***er seemed to be umpiring to a different rule book and seemed as though he had good money riding on geelong.

It was a good hard game ruined by umpires wanting to make a name for themselves. While the crows butchered the ball resulting in plenty of goals it really doesnt help when the umps decide to crucify the team as well. How Stevie J got away with his argument of the crows players being to close in the forward pocket is beyond me. That ump needs to be sent back to the minors. lost control in my opinion when a player argues you into changing your mind. Last time I read in the rule book a player had to kick over the mark and anything else is playon.

The Adelaide Football Club should be sending a please explain first thing Monday morning regarding the standard of umpiring. VB did well not to give the umps a mouth full at 3 quarter time and it must have been hard for Bickley to keep his composure in the press conference as well and keep the focus on effort.

It was Shane Stewart, not Matthew Nicholls that was bullied by Geelong with the Stevie J kick.

However, Matthew Nicholls' performance tonight was nothing short of disgraceful. The fact that the crowd absolutely turned on him persistently just showed how poor his effort was tonight. He should be made to apologise to the Adelaide Football Club for his conduct and dropped for the remainder of the season.

Umpiring was okay till half time. Then the second half started and the bald headed git decided that he hadn't had enough time in the limelight. He was appalling.I have never seen a crowd turn on one umpire like that

The whole Stevie J incident was disgraceful as well.

I looked up the umpires numbers after hearing there were a number of complaints by Adelaide supporters this week. The bald headed w***er, is aka Matthew Nicholls, wears number 15, he is the same umpire that attempted to engineer a North Melbourne win against Hawthorn in Launceston the previous week. His effort that week involved awarding 5 or 6 baffling free kicks to north during the last quarter, including 2 fifty metre penalties after being sucked in by Matthew Campbell taking a dive that resulted in a goal.

The crowd were close to jumping the fence in Launceston so I'm not surprised that someone in Adelaide went that little bit further. Nicholls should not have been umpiring this latest match given his rather biased performance in Launceston.

That was the worst display of umpiring from one individual i've seen in a long time. I even stayed an extra 5 minutes after the game to continue yelling abuse at him :thumbsu:

Umpires are directed to be aware of giving home ground decisions when they travel outside victoria, thus we never seem to get the same decisions our way as we are pinged for. The umpires don't recieve the same directive in games in Victoria.

Once we as a crowd ark up against the umps, they start to feel isolated, alone and against it and they start relating with the oppisitions plight as they get similar and thier subsequent decisions reflect this, most noteably is when we play and spectate as ferocious as tonight.

Some umpires deal better than others.

However, years ago there was a small group of umpires pro victorian by choice.

That was a disgraceful performance by Nicholls tonight. It's almost as if he only does it just to get the reaction from the crowd. I just wish the Crows would challenge this and get this muppet banned from umpiring ever again, except of course the AFL would probably not listen anyway.

I hate complaining about the umpires after a loss, because Geelong deserved their win tonight, but bloody hell, Nicholls is a ****ing bald prick.:thumbsd:

This idiot kills us every single time we have him. No way he should be allowed to umpire Adelaide games.

Fairly sure he did that debacle of St. Kilda game a couple of years ago. The worst performance with a couple of noteable competitors.

Ottens "mark" followd by the 50 and then backed up by Knights getting driven into the ground by Pods and no in the back free. Terrible.

Then Selwood gets a too high free and something much worse happens to Otten I think it was and play on.

Not good.

At least Kennedy has retired and Chamberlein isn't biased he's just bad and wants all the attention.

Do we miss teh days John Russo was special comments man for the umpires? He used to really burn us.

What a bad thing to say.
He was one of the constants between Adelaide and Premierships.
And he has always been one of the most impatial umpires around.

He's been the best umpire of the last 20 years FFS.
Just because you know his name doesn't mean he's bad.

In fact, most AFL umpires are pretty good, some might open their mouth a bit too much and it's noticable for those who sit in their couch and watch it from home (so the majority of those on BigFooty). But they're not all that bad.

Note - Nicholls is the one umpire that I don't like, way too inconsistent.

I wish some of the umpires would actually look up the rule on how far off the contest you can lay a shepherd or block. Collingwod and Geelong mightn't win as many games. We may as well take a big black texta to the rule book and remove everything not paid unless you play for them or are Chris Judd.
